City in talks with Gvardiol over new contract

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Manchester City are in talks with Josko Gvardiol about a new long-term contract - despite the defender still recovering from a fractured tibia.

After tying Phil Foden down to a new deal this week, City are hoping to do the same with the Croatia centre-back even though he has been sidelined since January and had surgery.

Gvardiol had been instrumental in City's team up until suffering that devastating injury against Chelsea, and such is his regard in the club they want to extend his deal beyond the current 2028 expiry and improve his salary.

Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2023, the 24-year-old has made 120 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and setting up 10 more, while showing the versatility to play at both centre-back and left-back; known for his marauding runs forward on the left.

Atletico Madrid still keen on Brighton's O'Riley

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Atletico Madrid are still interested in Matt ORiley at Brighton.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone has retained his admiration for the midfielder since making a 20m bid to sign him in January 2024 while he was at Celtic.

Atletico are looking for more depth in midfield ahead of next season and - along with several other top Spanish clubs - see ORiley as an attractive addition to the squad.

Clubs in Serie A are also thought to be thinking along similar lines about O'Riley as they plan for next season with squads competing in European competition.

O'Riley has Champions League pedigree, having impressed in the competition while on loan at Marseille earlier this season and during his time at Celtic.

However, he has been used sparingly by Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler since the club paid more than 25m to sign him from then Scottish Champions Celtic in the summer of 2024.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute in the away defeat to Newcastle at the weekend and has appeared in just six of the 14 Premier League games since his January recall.

Brighton boss Hurzeler signs new contract

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has signed a new three-year contract.

The 33-year-old's previous Seagulls deal was due to expire in the summer of 2027, but he has now committed his future to Brighton until the summer of 2029.

Hurzeler's new deal comes amid a growing list of admirers both domestically and in Germany. It is understood he was being closely watched by Bundesliga sides, with Bayer Leverkusen very interested in him.

Villa among clubs interested in Wilson

Latest from Your Site News' Rob Dorsett:

Aston Villa are one of several Premier League clubs interested in doing a deal for Fulham forward Harry Wilson.

The forward is out of contract this summer and whilst Fulham want to extend his contract, Wilson is keen to explore his options, especially because of the uncertainty over the future of manager Marco Silva.

A host of teams in Europe are interested in talking to Wilson, but Your Site News has been told those options are unlikely to be able to match the financial package on offer in the Premier League.

As things stand, it looks like the 29-year-old is destined to stay in England.

De Zerbi wants Palhinha to stay at Spurs

Roberto De Zerbi says he wants Joao Palhinha to stay at Tottenham

The midfielder is currently on loan from Bayern Munich and shone in Spurs' crucial victory at Aston Villa last weekend.

Asked if he wanted Palhinha to stay beyond this season, De Zerbi said on Friday: "One hundred per cent.

"We have to start from these types of people. More than players, we need reliable people, reliable players.

"Palhinha is one of the best, as a player for sure, but as a guy. I want to see the players with the same passion, spirit, personality and we are lucky to have Palhinha with us."

Shaw expected to leave Man City after title triumph

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Bunny Shaw is expected to leave Manchester City when her contract expires at the end of the season, despite winning the WSL title with them last night.

After months of talks over a potential new contract, Shaw is understood to want to explore her other options.

The 29-year-old striker has scored a remarkable 110 goals in 133 appearances for City since joining from Bordeaux in 2021 and there is believed to be interest in Shaw from Chelsea among other clubs, including from the USA.

Shaw is set to win the WSL Golden Boot for a third consecutive season, having scored 19 goals in 21 games.

Leverkusen showing strong interest in Esteve

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Bayer Leverkusen are showing strong interest in Burnley defender Maxime Esteve.

Two clubs in the Premier League are also keen on the left-footed centre-back.

Burnley are believed to be open to discussing his exit due to their relegation to the Championship.

Esteve, 23, has been almost ever-present for Burnley this season. He has started every Premier League game except three around the Christmas period.

The France U23 international has made 98 appearances for Burnley since signing from Montpellier in in 2024m initially on loan.

'Arsenal monitoring Rashford ahead of the summer

Arsenal are monitoring Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to the Daily Mail.

Rashford is on loan at Barcelona, but there are doubts whether the LaLiga leaders will make his move permanent for a reported 26m.

The report states both Arsenal and Bayern Munich are attentive to Rashford's situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rashford has scored 13 goals in 46 games across all competitions for Barcelona.

Hansi Flick's side reportedly have until June 15 to trigger their option to buy Rashford.
