Many members of historically marginalised communities have been the victims of colonisation and oppression on the part of people in positions of authority.
This can show up in a number of ways, including exploitation, forced assimilation, and cultural erasure. Indigenous peoples, for instance, have endured forceful eviction from their homes, the erasure of traditional practises, and the encroachment of alien ideas and ways of life.
Similar to this, institutional racism, a lack of resources, and constrained possibilities may be experienced by people of colour as a result of past and present prejudice. LGBTQ+ people have also been colonised by heteronormative ideals being imposed on them and by being shut out of mainstream society. For instance, Spain colonised America, England colonised the eastern shore of North America, and Russia colonised Siberia. All of them are instances of colonialism.
