It had been a tiring day at Camp Kikiwaka. The campers were quite exhausted after an exhilarating day of riding, canoeing, and various activities. Three friends, Lily, Asher, and Jack, had decided to spend the remaining hours of the day conversing, sitting with their legs dangled in the gleaming stream. Lily looks up at the sunset sky, noticing its blue but slightly orange color. She planned to comment on this with the boys and tried in vain to get their attention. Instead of listening to her, they engaged in a conversation about funny videos and trending topics.

After several failed attempts to join in the conversation, Lily focused on the calm stream's waters. As she looked, she spotted a log gradually coming closer to her sight of view. As she stood up to get a better look, she discovered that it was not a log. Instead, it was a bloodthirsty alligator darting towards her. She tried to get the boys' attention, to warn them. Despite her efforts, again, they seemed very engrossed in their conversation to pay any heed. Before she could utter a word more, the alligator shot up, pouncing on her leg, and attempting to drag her into the deep waters below.

Jack tried to hold on to her hand and pull her up, but it was no use; the alligator was too strong for him. Asher ran to the campgrounds, desperately looking for a camp counselor to help. Eventually, he found Mrs. Johnson, the chief camp counselor, and was able to rush back to the scene. She met Lily struggling and kicking the alligator's head in desperation. Mrs. Johnson instructed Lily to poke the alligator's eyes, afterward, hit his snout. Lily did so, and after continuous repetition, the alligator retreated into the stream.

Her leg was injured but, she was ever grateful that she had survived this attack. Mrs. Johnson called for an ambulance, and Lily was carried to the hospital to get her leg treated. The remaining weeks were a moment of regret/guilt for Jake and Asher as they blamed themselves for the happenings. If only they had listened to Lily and left the stream, all would have been well.
