There was an exhibition of paintings in Albert Hall. Moore is making a mirror painting; she used 2/4 of a meter of mirror for 1 painting. If she will make 6 paintings for sale, how many meters of mirror will she use?

Answers

Answer: 3 mirrors of painting

Explanation:

Based on the information given that Moore is making a mirror painting and that she used 2/4 of a meter of mirror for 1 painting.

Since she will make 6 paintings for sale, the meters of mirror that she will use will be:

= 2/4 × 6

= 1/2 × 6

= 3

Therefore, she'll use 3 meters of mirror.

Yo Cupid I called back to him wondering what exactly yo meant. As Cupid came closer and I got a good look at him I winced. He was going through a really bad teen god stage. His hair was oily and his face was all broken out with pimples. Even his little wings drooped like those of a molting pigeon. Hades I need directions man. How do I get to Babylon. You’re a god I said. Why not chant the astro-traveling spell. One big plus of being a god is astro-traveling. We think about where we want to go chant a little spell and ZIP we’re there. Cupid leaned against a tree looking dejected. I tried that. I totally chanted the right ZIP code for Babylon but I ended up someplace called Bayonne. He rolled his eyes. My astro-traveling powers are all messed up. I gave him directions. Maybe he wasn’t my favorite god but I felt sorry for him. His teen troubles were so bad they’d overwhelmed his astro-traveling system"

He pointed an angry finger at me.' (a) Litotes (b) Oxymoron (c) Transferred Epithet (d) Pun

Answers

Answer:

(c) Transferred Epithet.

Explanation:

A transferred epithet is a figure of speech where the modifier (usually an adjective) is taken to modify other nouns in the sentence. In other words, a transferred epithet modifies a noun in a sentence other than the intended noun. This means that it describes a noun that was not initially supposed to modify.

In the given sentence "he pointed an angry finger at me", the adjective "angry" was supposed to modify the pronoun "he". But with the placement of the word nearer to another noun "finger", it seems like it is describing the 'finger' rather than the person 'he'.

Thus, this sentence is an example of a transferred epithet.

Which is the best revision of the sentence below? "She tried to hold the dog back but Anna was just not strong enough for the bulk, power, and movement of the dog.

Answers

Answer:

C.  Anna tried to hold back the dog, but she just was not strong enough for the bulk, power, and movement of the dog.

Explanation:

A revision is when a given sentence or any given passage is rewritten in a better form. This can involve changes in the words, or voice or tense, or even the structure of the whole sentence.

In the given sentence, the proper noun is used after the pronoun. Instead of using the pronoun to start the sentence, if we use the proper noun "Anna" to start the sentence, then the sentence is made easier to understand and also who is being talked about. Also, changing the structure of the sentence by rearranging certain words will make the sentence better in form and construction.

Thus, the revised sentence will be option C.

I believe that part of my success is thanks to you and I hope that I will be able to repay everything that you do. I also thank you for supporting me in my moments of stubbornness, where I managed to ignore the advice of the people who love me and care about me, like you.

Prompt: Should more educational applications be used in schools?

The modern education system continues to evolve and technology is often used to deliver learning. Chalkboards have been replaced with dry-erase boards, and dry-erase boards have been replaced with smart-boards. Tablets and laptops are frequently used in place of pencil and paper. According to the article, “The Importance of Game Based Learning in Modern Education,” by a computer science engineer named Aarti Dadheech, “one of the greatest challenges for educators is… finding new ways to grab the attention of learners and engaging them in the learning process.” Her article goes on to say that “modern teaching aids are important and most preferred in the technological age…and [they] can be successfully used to improve both learning and teaching.“ Therefore, teachers, and others with direct responsibilities of educating kids, should allow the use of more educational applications (also known as educational apps) in schools to bring about more effective learning and positive educational outcomes for students.

The first reason why there should be more educational applications in schools is because the ones that support retrieval practice, increase learning retention in students. According to retrievalpractice.org, their use “boosts learning…and educational applications, such as Quizlet, Kahoot!, and Quizizz all support retrieval practice.” Another way to put it is, retrieval practice is studying by being able to successfully pull up information you have been taught from the file cabinets of your brain. Also, these experts seem to be saying that frequent practice with educational applications support students when they must keep learned information in their memories over long periods of time.

The second reason why there should be more educational applications in schools is they can prepare students for technology jobs. According to author Becton Loveless’s educationcorner.com article, “Are Learning Apps Helping or Hurting Education?” “using education apps prepares children to use technology…the same abilities they will need to perform everyday tasks and certain job functions.” Two recent CNBC articles strengthen this thought. One of the articles reported that “U.S. companies had about 918,000 unfilled IT jobs.” The other article relayed why one major technology company believes those jobs go unfilled. It quoted Brian Huseman, Amazon’s vice president for public policy, as to why they decided to build their first headquarters in Seattle and split their second one between New York and Northern Virginia. Huseman said, “It turns out that tech talent was the biggest driving factor for us. Both tech talent on day one, but also tech talent in the future.”  In other words, there are more technology jobs than there are people who are educated and trained in the technology industry. So, it stands to reason that there is a need for more student learning via the use of educational applications in schools.

The force acts in the opposite direction to the way an object wants to slide. If a car needs to stop at a stop sign, it slows because of the friction between the brakes and the wheels.
