explain how environmental factors affect the rate of transpiration in flowering plants

Answers

Answer 1

Explanation:

there are a couple of environmental factors that affect the rate of transpiration. they include:

I) wind:in a windy environment there is easy movement of moisture hence it does not accumulate on the leaf surface. this helps to increase diffusion gradient between the intercellular spaces in the leaf and in the environment there4 the rate of transpiration is increased. in a calm environment moisture accumulates on the surface of a leaf there4 reducing the diffusion gradient there4 reducing the rate of transpiration

ii) atmospheric pressure :in low lands there is high atmospheric pressure than in the highlands. the more the atmospheric pressure the more the pressure exerted on the cells of the leaves there4 reducing the rate of transpiration.

iii) humidity:the more the humidity in the atmosphere the less the rate of transpiration. this is due to low diffusion gradient due to accumulation of water vapour on the surface of the leaf

iv) temperature:a rise in temp increases the water vapour holding capacity of air in the air spaces within the spongy mesophyll layer. the water vapor pressure in the intercellular spaces increases causing an increase in diffusion gradient between the intercellular spaces and the environment there4 increasing the rate of transpiration. decrease in temp decreases the water vapor holding capacity in the intercellular spaces there4 diffusion gradient is lowered there4 reducing the rate of transpiration.

Bats hunt using echolocation, in which they send and receive high frequency sounds to locate prey. When bats hear the sounds of others, they typically begin hunting in the same area. As the number of bats hunting in the area increases, individuals become more successful at locating and capturing prey.

Some populations of bats live in areas with high levels of noise pollution, such as near heavily trafficked bridges. How might the hunting behavior of bats be affected by such an environment?

A.
Bats would be better able to use echolocation, which would improve their ability to find prey.
B.
Bats would be unable to use echolocation, which would prevent them from finding any prey.
C.
Bats would be more likely to hunt in groups, so an individual's success in catching prey would increase.
D.
Bats would be less likely to hunt in groups, so an individual's success in catching prey would decrease.

Where does fertilization take place in the female?

Answers

Answer:

Fallopian tube

Explanation: A pregnancy starts with fertilization, when a woman's egg joins with a man's sperm. Fertilization usually takes place in a fallopian tube that links an ovary to the uterus. If the fertilized egg successfully travels down the fallopian tube and implants in the uterus, an embryo starts growing.

Answer:One Direction

DNA Polymerase Only Moves in One Direction

Explanation:

After a primer is synthesized on a strand of DNA and the DNA strands unwind, synthesis and elongation can proceed in only one direction. As previously mentioned, DNA polymerase can only add to the 3' end, so the 5' end of the primer remains unaltered.

Describe two processes of weathering and two processes of erosion that are taking place in Sam's backyard.
es

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

When viewing the image of Sam's backyard, we can see the occurrence of chemical and physical weathering. Physical weathering is caused by the impact of water on rocks, which promotes the breakdown of rock particles. The chemical weathering is also caused by the water that I contact with the rock react with its elements causing chemical reactions that modify the rock.

Regarding erosion, we can consider the erosion by gravity that is common in mountainous regions, like the one shown in the photo. This type of erosion promotes the loss of mass of the rock due to the detachment and rolling of rock particles, due to gravity. We can also notice the rain erosion, created by the impact of water on the rock that detaches the fragments and transports them to other places.

During a field trip, an instructor gently touched a moth resting on a tree trunk. The moth raised its forewings to reveal brightly colored eyespots on its hind wings. The instructor asked why the moth lifted its wings. One student answere that sensory receptors had fired and triggered a neuronal reflex culminating in the contraction of certain muscles that ralsed the wings. A second student responded that the behavior frightens predators and that this allows the moth to escape. Which statement best describes these explanations?

In protein synthesis, the role of the ribosome is to: A. Translate mRNA into tRNA B. read the mRNA code C. Pick up and carry amino acids D. Translate tRNA into amino acids PLEASE HELP!

Answers

Answer:

B. read the mRNA code

Explanation:

Ribosomes are cellular organelles present in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. The ribosome is the site of protein synthesis in a living cell i.e. it is where the translation of mRNA into protein (amino acids) occurs.

The mRNA molecule is read in the ribosome with the aid of another type of RNA molecule called tRNA (transfer RNA). The tRNA in the ribosome reads the mRNA codon using its anticodon and carries the corresponding amino acid to the growing polypeptide chain. Therefore, the ribosomes play the role of reading mRNA code during protein synthesis.

23. Each trait has two alleles. How many alleles would have to be a dominant allele for the offspring to express a dominant trait

Answers

Answer:

One (1) of the alleles

Explanation:

According to Gregor Mendel in his series of experiments, he discovered that two forms of a gene called ALLELE contributed to the formation of a trait. However, in his law of dominance, Mendel stated that one allele called the DOMINANT ALLELE has the ability to mask the phenotypic expression of the other allele called RECESSIVE ALLELE when present.

This means that, in a combination of both alleles in a gene (heterozygous), only one allele coding for a phenotypic characteristics will be expressed. This phenotype is called the DOMINANT TRAIT.

For example, if tall allele (T) is dominant over the short allele (t), the tall trait will be expressed when the genotype is "Tt" meaning that only one of the alleles would have to be a dominant allele for the offspring to express a dominant trait.
