What is the best book you've ever read or heard about that includes these things.... and no it does not have to include ALL of them. It doesn't even have to include any of them, I just want a book to read.

1. Dark Humour
2. History Of Art
3. Forbidden or Mysterious Romance
4. British Novels
5. French Literature

I definitely am in this "romance book" feeling for some reason but yeah, list some books I should read that include either ONE or NONE of these things. They can include all but.....that would be a long book...... but a very cool one.

I fell and died it hurt really really bad
I don’t know if you need this still, but here is a story of mine you can use lol

When I was five years old, my family and I moved into a new house. My parents needed to go bring more boxes from our old house, so while they did that my grandma watched me and my siblings at the new house for a bit. While we were there my older cousins came over to check out the house, but they were distracted so I went to go wander around the house. I ended up finding this pillar at the entrance of that house and tried sliding on it, but I ended up getting my knee stuck at the bottom of the pillar. There was a pillar and a wall and my knee was stuck between them and it hurt so bad. So I started yelling and crying for help. My grandma heard and it ran over to help but she couldn’t get me out so my older cousins came over and tried getting me out. I was crying so much and they didn’t know what to do. They couldn’t get me out, they tried lifting my leg up, they tried pulling it out, but everything hurt so much that it didn’t work. My older sibling then got old butter that was left in the fridge from the people who previously lived in the house. It smelt so bad and we try putting the butter on my leg to slip it out, but even that didn’t work. At that time my leg started to swell. We then called my parents and it worried my dad so much, but they were already far so my parents couldn’t do anything. I was so scared I thought my leg was going to fall off. My older cousin then kicked a hole in the wall to try to get my leg out but there was a piece of wood in the wall that was squishing my leg that they couldn’t move. My aunt then came to check out the house, but quickly became worried because all she heard was crying from me. My other cousin then ended up calling 911 and the firefighters and paramedics came. It was so chaotic and we had just got the keys to our new house two hours before. After a few minutes the firefighters and paramedics arrived and when they all came in I was so embarrassed. After the firefighters tried a few things they eventually got my knee out and there was sheet rock and old butter all over my leg. Everyone was cheering and clapping because they were relieved. I was embarrassed though because there was so much people that I had got worried and probably 20 people in the living room were all staring at me. They ended up giving me A Christmas present and a fire fighter hat which made me less embarrassed. Right after that my parents had arrived and came up to me and asked me what happened they both had these worried faces when they walked in, but I was already fine. Now when family brings it up I get super embarrassed about it because I did something not so smart.

Solar Eclipse

Paragraph 1
A solar eclipse can be a spectacular event to witness. Whether it is a partial or a total eclipse or not, seeing the shadow of the Moon cover some or all of the Sun's surface in the middle of the day can be quite dramatic! Eclipses happen when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some of the Sun's light. If you look online, you can find some impressive eclipse photos taken by professional and amateur photographers. On average, solar eclipses happen twice a year. Some of these photos have been touched up, or improved, using computer software, but others are completely real.

Paragraph 2
When the time gets closer, you will need to prepare for viewing a solar eclipse! A solar eclipse can be visible in different parts of the world; however, you have to take some safety measures when viewing one. Fortunately, there are a number of perfectly safe ways to view such an amazing event. You cannot simply look up at the sun, or you will ruin your eyes in a matter of moments. If the idea of watching a solar eclipse appeals to you, check various astronomy Web sites to find out when the next one will be occurring.

Paragraph 3

A special material makes them safe for viewing the Sun. One safe way to view eclipses is with "eclipse glasses." The frames of the glasses are made of cardboard, and the lenses are made of special material that blocks out all but a tiny bit of light. These are available by mail order from telescope shops and are also sold by science museums. Eclipse glasses do not cost more than a dollar or two a pair. However, make sure to order them at least a month ahead of time because they tend to sell out in the days before the event.

Paragraph 4
Another safe way to view the solar eclipse is to make a viewer yourself! The easiest kind is a pinhole viewer. You can try this out on any sunny day. Just get two pieces of white cardboard, about the size of a sheet of printer paper. Make a tiny pinhole in the center of one piece. Then hold it in the sunlight so the sun shines through the hole, and hold the other piece of board underneath. After a few attempts, you should be able to line up the Sun's image so it projects onto the second piece of white board. If you move the cardboard with the pinhole farther away from the bottom cardboard, the image will be bigger. Now, you can view a solar eclipse easily, and protect your precious eyesight!

What make the controversy of woman especially woman of color getting paid less than men important I need yalls opinions!!!!!!

Answers

Answer:

The controversy of women getting paid less than men was because people thought that women IS NOT the same as men. In the past, women were looked at as property or some fragile little thing that ONLY has the job of carrying children in the family and take care of the house. Also this depends on what timeline you are looking at, but women would often have less education compared to men simply because of their gender. Women are expected to be "proper" whereas men "manly." Now in the present, some men still have that traditional thoughts like how women can not be as great as men, which is why they would be payed less.

Which sentence best explains Lincoln’s wartime decisions?

adapted from Lincoln the Great
by Wilfred W. McClay

We should remember too that, with events controlling him, Lincoln had to do things as president that he was not equipped to do, either by experience or temperament. He had not only opposed the aggression of the Mexican War but was something of an antimilitarist1 who abhorred1 violence. How then to account for the fact that he became such a remarkably effective war leader, indeed the quintessential2 war president—the only president in our history whose entire term of office was defined by the conditions of war, and the employer and enabler of such legendarily destructive warriors as Grant and Sherman? It is surely one of the many mysteries about this man.

He also excelled in understanding the larger political dimensions of the war, in riding the flow of events and changing Northern public opinion with a consummate3 sense of timing. He understood the importance of isolating and containing the South, keeping the border states out of the Confederacy and European mischief-makers out of the struggle. He gradually and deftly4 redefined the war as an unlimited, total struggle to overthrow the South’s political system, and pushed his military leaders toward a strategy of unconditional surrender that was appropriate to the war’s changing objectives. Such maneuvering helps us appreciate why Lincoln at first so actively suppressed the idea that the war was to be a war for emancipation, to the extent of countermanding5 John C. Frémont’s Missouri Emancipation Proclamation in 1861. It helps us appreciate the mixture of genuine moral idealism and shrewd military calculation that lay behind Lincoln’s decision to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, a document that is often unfairly disparaged6 on the grounds that it refrained from abolishing slavery and technically freed almost no one.

Which brings us to the question of Lincoln’s halfway measures, whose fuller context we need to remember. He rose to prominence as a politician who was antislavery but also anti-abolitionist. The strategy he preferred would have contained the spread of slavery, then gradually eliminated it—as opposed to overturning the institution in one grand liberatory7 gesture. Such a position perhaps seems incoherent now, and it failed in the end, since the South concluded that it could not trust President Lincoln, who received not a single electoral vote from the South, to protect its “peculiar institution.” But it was a position predicated on Lincoln’s belief that the maintenance of the Union was the key to all other political goods.

Answer:

This story is an important part of both Greek and Roman mythology because it is a story that connects the two cultures. I think that this story could be adapted for our current culture because it addressed issues that are still prominent in our society today. I would create a contemporary version of “Proserpine” featuring an alcoholic (Pluto) a young woman walking home from work at night (Proserpine) and an old lady who witnessed the kidnapping (Hecate).

There are a lot of rule that exist in the community of The Giver. Do you think rules make life easier or harder? Are they necessary? Explain your answer.

Answers

Answer:

I think that they make life in the community harder. In real life, it depends. The kind of rules the community has, like limits to how many kids you can have, kids are divided into age groups, can't have your own privacy since you must share your feelings and dreams with your family whether you like it or not, etc. I feel that it limits the freedom of the people in the community. It's a strange world too. There are no colors, only one season exists, no birthdays, and you can get "released" if you do not perform or develop as you should. The rules were made to make the world utopian, but I think that limiting what people can and what people can't do in order to make a utopian society is unnecessary.

How is globalisation and culture related?

The blending of traditions and the sharing of cultural values among many nations are both influenced by cultural globalisation. For cultural globalisation is characterised by the blending of consumer and commercial cultures across nations and the expansion of global communication.

The process through which certain cultures, meanings, ideas, values, and experiences are spread throughout the world via a multitude of channels, chief among which are cross-border human migration, popular culture media, and international communication.

This indicates that many traditions and practises that small communities share have spread to other communities that had different practises and even different beliefs. The trading of goods like coffee or avocados is one good illustration of cultural globalisation.

In life, every man has twin obligations—obligations to his family, to his parents, to his wife and children; and he has an obligation to his people, his community, his country. In a civil and humane society, each man is able to fulfill those obligations according to his own inclinations and abilities. But in a country like South Africa, it was almost impossible for a man of my birth and color to fulfill both of those obligations. In South Africa, a man of color who attempted to live as a human being was punished and isolated. In South Africa, a man who tried to fulfill his duty to his people was inevitably ripped from his family and home and was forced to live a life apart, a twilight existence of secrecy and rebellion. I did not in the beginning choose to place my people above my family, but in attempting to serve my people, I found that I was prevented from serving my obligations as a son, a brother, a father, and a husband.

The next night, the wolf knocked on the second pig’s door. This pig had quickly built his house from twigs. “May I come in?” asked the wolf. “Nope!
