Which affect do some believe third-party candidate Ross Perot had on the 1992 election? -For Brainliest!-

Answers

Answer:

Third-party candidate Ross Perot affected the 1992 election by taking a great amount of votes from Bush, thus allowing Clinton to win the elections.

Explanation:

The 1992 presidential election was contested between the Republican nominee and President George H.W. Bush; the Democrat Bill Clinton, governor of Arkansas; and the independent candidate Ross Perot, a Texas businessman.

Bush had alienated much of his conservative base by breaking his 1988 campaign promise against tax collection, when the economy was in a recession.

The Democratic nominee, Bill Clinton, managed to establish himself as the leader of a party that had been defeated by a large margin in the three previous presidential elections. In fact, thanks to the division of the right-wing vote between Bush and Perot, Clinton managed to win the elections with a lower voting percentage than that achieved by the loser of the 1988 election, Michael Dukakis.

Which of the following is a true statement about the Northwest Ordinance? A. It prohibited slavery in the Northwest Territory. B. It restricted foreigner immigrants from moving into the Northwest Territory. C. It called for the removal of all Native Americans from the Northwest Territory. D. It provided financial support to poor Americans who wanted to own land in the Northwest Territory.

Answers

The correct answer is A. It prohibited slavery in the Northwest Territory.

Explanation:

The Northwest Ordinance was approved in 1787 to establish the Northwest territory and laws that applied to it. This covered states such as Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. Additionally, the Ordinance established the borders of this territory or states that were part of it, ratified the sovereignty, and established a local government.

Also, the ordinance ratified natural rights for all those in the territory, and therefore prohibited slavery and any similar practices. Due to this, after the ordinance, many slaves from the South scaped to this territory to gain their freedom, which contributed to the issue of slavery and related conflicts. Thus, the statement that is true about this ordinance is "It prohibited slavery in the Northwest Territory."

Background information: In this speech by President Carter on Afghanistan, he mentions the SALT treaties. The Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) were two rounds of joint talks between the United States and the USSR in which they reached an agreement to reduce the number of weapons each country had. The world simply cannot stand by and permit the Soviet Union to commit this act with impunity. Fifty nations have petitioned the United Nations Security Council to condemn the Soviet Union and to demand the immediate withdrawal of all Soviet troops from Afghanistan. . . . The successful negotiation of the SALT II treaty has been a major goal and a major achievement of this administration, and we Americans, the people of the Soviet Union, and indeed the entire world will benefit from the successful control of strategic nuclear weapons through the implementation of this carefully negotiated treaty. However, because of the Soviet aggression, I have asked the United States Senate to defer further consideration of the SALT II treaty so that the Congress and I can assess Soviet actions and intentions. . . . —US President Jimmy Carter, 1980 Why does President Carter state that the US Congress will wait to pass the SALT II treaty? He believes that the USSR will use nuclear weapons against the United States. He believes that the USSR will use nuclear weapons against the Middle East. What was the main hope of many colonial areas around the world in the immediate aftermath of World War I? Question 2 options: A) Joining the British Empire B) Being granted independence C) Being granted more beneficial trade treaties D) Gaining the ability to trade with each other

Answers

Answer:

being granted independence

Explanation:

This was because all their freedoms and right were practically taken away during WW1. The "hope" for independence was so strong because they felt trapped.

Answer:

B) Being granted independence

Explanation:

As the other answer states, the answer is truly wishing to be independent. However, some of the information is false.

Many of the colonial freedoms and rights were taken away during the Age of Exploration, which would occur way before World War I. The only parts in which their freedoms and rights were severely limited during World War I focused mostly in Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia. In fact, many of these places were the strongholds of the "empires" that existed in the age (British Empire, German Empire, to name a few). During World War I, with the shortage of man power, the European nations drew upon their colonies to furnish manpower to help them fight wars, in which the colonies asked in return to be granted their freedom from mostly oppression and looking down upon. That is not too say that all their freedoms and rights were taken away. Rather, it is spun in a different tale and light, as many of their natural resources were taken to create products that cater to the "needs" of the first-world countries, while the ruling country fail to benefit the people of the colonies. They had their own versions of freedom and rights, but when comparing (which is a dangerous thing to do), you will then think that freedom and rights were non-existent. Of course, that is not too say that slavery and forced labor is anything close to freedoms and rights, but saying that "all freedoms and rights" were taken away is a bit extreme. Instead, I would like to suggest that colonial areas, in helping the Europeans in their time of need, would instead like to be seen as equals to their host countries, and that they also be seen as humans as well, rather than anything lesser. Freedom and Rights are all created by humans to suggest that each individual has something they can fall upon when they are in dire situations, (as such as the freedom and right to choose, even when it seems like there is only one option, or the right on how to react, etc.)

In essence, the colonial people would rather be seen as equals to their ' " masters" ', and to be in equal footing and see each other eye to eye. This was soon upheld mostly after World War II, and during the cold war and following it.
