Mami didn’t know any better, and I had yet to learn not everything I heard was true, so we reacted in what was to become a pattern for us: what frightened her I became curious about, and what she found exciting terrified me. Bonds are another type of investment. When you purchase a bond, you’re basically lending your money to a business or to a government. As compensation for lending them your money, you earn interest on it. That means that you’ll get your money back plus a small percentage of the bond’s original amount. Because most bonds are virtually guaranteed, they’re considered a safe investment. You buy it, and then after a number of years, you trade it in for more money than it cost you originally. But because bonds are low risk, you won’t make a whole lot of money from them. Bonds offer a way to make a little bit more money than just putting your money in a savings account, but they also tie your money up for the duration of the bond. If you take your money out sooner than the maturity date, you’ll be penalized, and you’ll end up losing money.

Which of these best describes a bond?

A
low risk, low reward

B
high risk, high reward

C
a diversified investment

In a few paragraphs compare and contrast two books (can be any book) using transition words.

Answers

Books compared: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas & Making Bombs for Hitler.

(These two books are similar but have some notable differences which is what makes them great for a comparison.)

Here are the paragraphs:

The two books that I will be comparing are “Making Bombs for Hitler” by Marsha Skrypuch and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. Both of these stories center around a child’s perspective in World War II. “Making Bombs for Hitler” is a story centered around a young Ukrainian girl named Lida. Lida is not Jewish, but she still faces hardships from both the Nazis and the Soviets. After losing her family, Lida is sent to a work camp since she lied about her age. Lida had proven to be a hard worker, so she received a new work task- a top secret operation. Lida had to make bombs for Hitler and the Nazis. “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is also about a young child faced with World War II hardships. Eight year old Bruno moves to a new town because of his father’s job promotion. Bruno’s father is a very important member of the Nazi party, and Bruno is sure that one day he will be to. After moving into their new house, Bruno has a lot of free time. He decides to take a walk around his new property, where he meets his new friend Shmuel. But, little did Bruno know that Shmuel was a Jewish boy in a concentration camp. What happens next is tragic.

These two books have many similarities. For starters, both books have very similar settings. Both of the stories take place in Europe during World War II. Another similarity is that in both stories, a child is the protagonist. Both Lida and Bruno are eight years old. The next similarity that I found present in both stories is that the protagonist is both stories is also not Jewish. Bruno’s father is a Nazi and Lida is presumably Catholic (since she has a cross necklace.) And lastly, in both stories, both Lida and Bruno befriend a Jewish person. Bruno befriends Shmuel, which makes up the overall storyline of the book. And Lida befriends a Jewish girl named Zenia. So, the overall atmosphere of both stories, the plot details, and the two major protagonists are all similar.

Although the stories do have a lot of general similarities, they also have a lot of differences too. One of the biggest differences in the book is the main character’s situation. Other than the danger that Bruno puts himself in, Bruno is safe. He is not in a work or concentration camp, and he has the Nazi Party’s protection. Whereas, Lida is in great danger. The Nazi party is against her, and they are the reason why she is in a work camp. Everyday Lida experiences torturous conditions, while all of Bruno’s danger is self inflicted. Another difference between the two is that Bruno had his family. He lived with his father, his mother, and his older sister. Lida, however, lost all of her family because of the war. The only family member that Lida had was her sister, and then they were separated. The final difference in these two stories is the ending. In the ending of “Making Bombs for Hitler” everything turns out okay for Lida. She is rescued by an American soldier, and she receives a letter from her sister. Where as in comparison, the ending of “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is heartbreaking. Simply stated, no one gets a happy ending. The endings even signify different meanings, in that “Making Bombs for Hitler’s” ending inspires hope and new beginnings, while “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” ending signified grief and then end of something good.

a paragraph analyzing the author's purpose for writing “Screen Time Can Mess With the Body's Clock”. IF YOU DONT KNOW THE STORY DONT ANSWER JUST COMMENT

Answers

Answer:

Turn off, turn in and drop off.

Anyone who does the opposite — say, turning on an iPad or other similar electronic reader in bed — may have a harder time both dropping off to sleep and shaking that groggy feeling the next morning. That’s the conclusion of a new study.

Sleep experts at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass., found that the light from a tablet computer upsets the body’s internal clock. And that can create real health and safety risks, the researchers say. Reading a printed book did not have the same effect. They reported their findings January 27 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The teenage body clock

An internal “clock” helps regulate when we eat, sleep and wake. Exposure to the light of day and darkness of night keeps its timing set to a roughly 24-hour cycle.

For instance, starting about two hours before bedtime, our brains start to produce a hormone called melatonin. It signals our internal clock that darkness has fallen. It also prepares the body for sleep.

Scientists long have known that light at night can disrupt that internal clock. And it does so by suppressing melatonin. This prevents the body from getting the message that bedtime is near.

Electronic devices with lit screens are now hugely popular. They have added another source of artificial light at night. The new study looked specifically at the iPad. Apple has sold more than 225 million of these tablets since their introduction in 2010.

For their new study, the researchers recruited six men and six women, all in their mid 20s. Over two weeks, each spent four hours reading each evening before a 10 p.m. bedtime. The volunteers read on an iPad for five nights in a row. On another five consecutive evenings they read a printed book.

The researchers noted how long it took the volunteers to fall asleep, how long they spent asleep and how long they remained in each stage of sleep. The experts also took blood samples to measure melatonin levels.

People took nearly 10 minutes longer to fall asleep, on average, after reading on the iPads. They also spent less time in rapid-eye movement (or REM) sleep. This sleep phase appears important for learning and storing memories.

There was no difference in hours spent sleeping after reading from either the iPad or a printed book. But how volunteers felt the next day did differ.

“Our most surprising finding was that individuals using the e-reader would be more tired and take longer to become alert the next morning,” says sleep researcher Anne-Marie Chang. “This has real consequences for daytime functioning,” she says. “And these effects might be worse in the real world as opposed to the controlled environment we used.” A co-author of the study, she works at Pennsylvania State University in University Park. Previously, she worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Lighting scientist Mariana Figueiro calls the study thorough. She also finds its results unsurprising. Figueiro, who was not connected to this new study, works at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. Her research has shown that spending even two hours on an iPad before bedtime can cut down the brain’s release of melatonin.

While she generally liked the study, she was concerned about “its applicability to real life.” This experiment was done in a laboratory setting under very dim lights. And that, she says, may not mimic how most people use e-readers — or read printed books.

“It’s not necessarily true,” she says, “that books are okay but e-readers are not.” She notes that “If you turn on a very bright light to read, it may have the same effect.”

What’s more, she points out, spending plenty of time exposed to natural light during the day can reduce the body’s sensitivity to artificial light at night. “The same iPad may have a much stronger effect on kids who stay indoors during the day, in dim light,” Figueiro says, “than on kids who play outdoors.”

Regularly getting too little sleep can pose important health risks. For instance, studies have shown that it can up the risk of everything from obesity, diabetes and depression to car accidents.ation:

just put it in the english catagory cause wel i geuss its ebglish because you are writnig i dont know

Answers

In order to understand why you should not cheat we must first learn what cheating is. The definition of cheating is that it can be any act of dishonesty in order to gain an advantage of something like a game. You can also cheat on someone if you are in a relationship with someone.

Now onto why you should not cheat on anything. Each time you hand in your work, you are telling your teacher that you did the work by yourself. That is either true or false, but it is only false if you cheated. Cheating is also technically stealing because you are taking someone's work and saying you did it.

Cheating is also unfair to other people. For example have you ever played a game only to have someone play against the rules and beat you in the game. Cheating is also frustrating especially if you are playing by the rules. Also when you cheat in school to get good grades, it is unfair for the people who actually studied and did the work.

Cheating may destroy people's trust for you. It only takes one time for you to get caught cheating to ruin someone's trust for you. Even if you never do it again. They will always have a hard time trusting you. Of course that always isn't the case. You might gain their trust again but they might not trust you as much.

Cheating will eventually lead to problems and failure. By skipping the hard work you were supposed to do. You might never learn persistence, dedication, discipline, or risks. Success takes hard work, and cheating is just an easy way to skip the hard work. But the downside of cheating is that you will find it difficult to complete your goals or work without cheating.

Schools, teachers, and parents don't want cheating and should strongly discourage cheating to students. If we have any hope to stop students from cheating. I have seen before that America is behind other countries when it comes to academics. If people keep treating students like they do now we will have an entire generation full of people who cheat.
What I think teachers and parents should do is to emphasize the importance of integrity.

When a storm's maximum sustained winds reach 74 mph, it is called a hurricane. The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale is a 1 to 5 rating, or category, based on a hurricane's maximum sustained winds. While hurricanes are known as typhoons and cyclones in different parts of the world, they are all the same type of storm. These tropical cyclones all form the same way. They form above warm ocean waters near the equator and use warm, moist air as fuel. This fuel allows them to continue to grow and rotate at faster speeds until they hit land. Once they hit land, they usually slow down because they no longer have the warm, moist air to fuel them. Although they slow down, they still move at speeds that allow them to cause great damage.

Hurricane Irma is a recent storm that touched down in the United States, forming from a tropical wave in the Atlantic Ocean. This wave lead to rain showers and thunderstorms, and eventually, the showers and thunderstorms became organized into a system. This created a low pressure area, allowing a hurricane to form. Hurricane Irma continued to grow as it moved across the ocean. By the time it hit the Caribbean, it was a Category 4 hurricane. It continued to change in size and speed. Finally, it touched down in Florida as a Category 4 hurricane before gradually weakening in power and dying in Missouri.
Hurricanes are a severe weather occurrence. Some hurricanes stay small, while others become more powerful until they touch down on land and start to lose power. However, hurricanes can still be catastrophic once they make landfall. Because scientists have learned so much about how hurricanes form, they are able to monitor them and warn people to take precautions if a hurricane hits in their area.

Based on the information in the text, why is it important for scientists to inform the public about the category of a hurricane that is going to hit a specific area?
Question 1 options:

Scientists can warn the public about how powerful the hurricane will be and how much damage it may cause, which allows people to prepare.

Scientists need to warn the public about the category so that the people from the area it hits can compare it to other hurricanes they have experienced.

Scientists travel to different sites of hurricanes and want to inform the people from the area that they are collecting information about the hurricane.

Scientists collect information about each category of hurricane and want to learn about the effects of the hurricane from the people in the community.
