Author's Perspective: The author may struggle with effectively conveying their intended message to readers. They might face challenges in finding the right words and structure to express their ideas in a way that captivates and resonates with the audience.

The author may also experience self-doubt, questioning whether their work will be well-received or if they are skilled enough to create a compelling narrative.

I would also cultivate resilience and confidence, reminding myself that creativity is subjective and that even the most successful authors face criticism and rejection.

Answer:

Topic: The Power of Art to Convey the Black Female Experience

Step 1:

In Search of our Mothers Gardens, by Alice Walker

This text explores the lives of black women and their creative expression through art. Walker argues that the creativity of black women has been suppressed throughout history and that it is important to recognize and celebrate their contributions to art and culture.

Caged Bird by Alicia Keys

This song is about the struggles and oppression experienced by black women, particularly in relation to their voices being silenced. Keys speaks to the resilience and strength of black women in the face of adversity.

Step 2:

Both of these texts highlight the power of art to convey the experiences of black women. They show how art can be used to express the pain, struggle, and resilience of black women in a way that words alone cannot.

Step 3:

Step 3:Poetry

Step 3:PoetryStep 4:

I am a poem titled "Voices Rising," inspired by both texts.

Voices Rising

We are the daughters of a lineage of queens,

Our voices silenced, but not our dreams.

We are the ones who weave stories in our hair,

And paint our pain with colors that dare.

We are the artists, the poets, the singers,

The ones who carry the weight of our lineage.

We are the caged birds, but we still sing,

Our voices are rising on freedom's wings.

Our art speaks where words cannot,

A language born of the pain we fought.

We tell our stories in every stroke,

In every note, we break the yoke.

We are the ones who make our gardens grow,

Where the seeds of our ancestors still sow.

We are the legacy of those who came before,

And our voices will rise forever.

Step 5:

I chose to write a poem because I believe that poetry is a powerful way to convey the experiences of black women. Poetry has the ability to distill complex emotions and experiences into a few words, making it a perfect medium to express the pain, struggle, and resilience of black women.

In writing this poem, I was influenced by the ideas presented in both texts. Alice Walker's "In Search of our Mothers Gardens" showed me the importance of recognizing the contributions of black women to art and culture, and how these contributions can be used to convey their experiences. Alicia Keys' "Caged Bird" spoke to the power of black women's voices and their ability to rise above oppression.

Both texts reinforced the idea that art is a powerful tool for black women to express themselves and their experiences. I wanted to capture this idea in my poem, by showing how art, particularly poetry, can be used to give voice to the struggles and triumphs of black women.

PROJECT: FACTS AND OPINIONS REPORT

Here are your goals for this assignment:

Choose a topic for your report and find two sources of information
Take notes for your report and use them to write an outline which also includes your personal opinions

The author of an opinion paper (which may also be called an argumentation paper) takes one side of a controversial topic and supports that side using evidence. Because there are at least two sides to the topic, the author's opinion needs support in order to persuade or change the mind of the reader.

The author of the report on Australia chose to put most of the facts first. Then she gave her opinions. When you write your report, you may follow this example or you may weave your opinions throughout the report. Make very clear what is fact and what is opinion.

Example:

Beavers slap their flat broad tails on the water to warn other beavers of danger (fact).
I believe this system is a good warning system (opinion).

To write your own report with facts and opinion, follow these steps:

1. Choose a topic for a paper of at least 200 words.

The topic you choose may be anything that interests you. Consider an animal, a famous person, or a place you have visited. You may want to write about something scientific like stars, hurricanes, or volcanoes. You may also choose an idea or chapter from the Bible or a theme such as grace or peace. Remember, the best topics for opinion papers have at least two clear sides.

The following are some ideas for writing your report:

Cities should have dedicated bike lanes.
You should exercise for thirty minutes every day.
Camping is the perfect vacation.
Goldfish make the best pets.
Each of these topics has more than one side.

When you choose your topic, be sure that it will lend itself to offering and supporting your opinion. Do not choose a topic if you do not have your own opinions on it. An experience like a vacation is a good choice. You can give facts about the place you visited and opinions about what the place is like.

Do not make your topic too broad. Instead, choose a topic that is specific. For example, you would want to choose "German Shepherds" rather than "animals".

2. Find at least two sources of information about your topic. Look in reference books such as encyclopedias, almanacs, or dictionaries. Find books or magazine articles about your topic. Use your library or the Internet. The key is to search for interesting information that your readers may not already know.

3. Take notes. As you read from your sources, jot down interesting facts to include in your report. Make sure that you record information about your sources in your notes. Write down the name of the book or magazine, the name of the author, and the name of the article or chapter. Also record the publishing date and the page number(s) on which you found the information. You may want to write this information in index cards or on a separate page in your notebook. Later you will include the source information in your paper.

4. Include any personal opinions which clearly state what you think about the subject. This means that you should avoid statements of like or dislike, if possible. Instead you should concentrate on opinions which talk about the effect that the person or experience had on you.

Instead of: I didn't like the Australian Outback. It was too sunny and hot.
Use: The hot weather in the Australian Outback made me wonder how anyone could survive in it.

The first opinion does not leave much room for the reader to disagree with you. The second opinion still states that the weather is hot. However, now the reader can express her own opinions and thoughts about the subject.

5. Write a general outline based on your notes and opinions.

Remember to include your source(s) of information and a general outline.

Answers

You can write a report about an event you witnessed and how it affected you. When writing this report, state the facts of the event and also outline the flow of thoughts in a logical manner.

Famine's grip, a cruel hold

Leaving nothing, not even gold

Mothers weeping, helpless and torn

As starvation's shadow is cast on the unborn

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP(70 POINTS!) SCARLET LETTER

Read the first three chapters and complete the following during reading strategies (copy those marks here):

1.) Make at least two inferences about plot, character, or setting.

2.) Provide at least two annotations you made and explain why you made them.

3.) Identify at least three unfamiliar words and list what you think the word means and its dictionary definition.

Answers

After reading the first three chapters of the Scarlet letter these are my evaluations,

1) Since he refuses to confess his sin or share in Hester's punishment, it can be assumed that Hester Prynne's lover is someone who enjoys respect and influence in Puritan society. This raises questions about his identity and motivations and fosters a sense of mystery.

Another implication is that Hester Chillingworth's husband Roger Chillingworth, is a vengeful and cunning man because he poses as a doctor and pretends to be friends with Arthur Dimmesdale, the minister who is actually Hester's secret lover. This foreshadows and ironically sets up his plan to humiliate and torture Dimmesdale.

2) The passage from chapter one had the following annotation "The founders of a new colony, whatever Utopia.........site of a prison." I took note of how this sentence introduces the novel's theme of sin and punishment as well as the contrast between the puritan society's ideal and reality. It should be noted that the cemetery and the prison are both images of death and suffering that portend what will happen to some of the characters.

Another note I made read, "On the breast of her................ letter A" in the second chapter. I took note of how this phrase refers to Hester having to wear a scarlet letter as a symbol of her adultery. It should be noted that the letter A represents a variety of concepts throughout the book including sin, guilt, shame, grace and redemption. Even the letter A stands in stark contrast to the ornate embroidery and gold thread suggesting Hester's artistic talent and rebellious demeanor.

3) "Ignominy" which appears in chapter two is one unfamiliar word  It probably refers to shame or dishonor. It is "public shame or disgrace" according to the dictionary definition. "Physiognomy" is another unfamiliar word that is used in chapter two. I believe it refers to a person's facial expression or appearance. It is described as "a person's facial features or expression especially when regarded as indicative of character or ethnic origin" by the dictionary.

Juror 8 discovers new evidence that leads to a retrial, which ultimately results in the true killer being brought to justice.

Sequel to Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose: "The Repercussions of Justice"

It had been years since Juror 8 had convinced the other jurors to acquit the defendant in the murder case.

The case had been closed and forgotten, but Juror 8 couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. He had always believed in the justice system, but now he wasn't so sure. He couldn't help but wonder if they had made the right decision.

Juror 8 had kept in touch with some of the jurors after the trial, and he knew that they were also struggling with their decision.

They had all believed that they had done the right thing at the time, but now they weren't so sure.

One day, Juror 8 received a letter from the defendant. He was now a free man, and he wanted to thank Juror 8 for fighting for his innocence. The letter was heartfelt, and it touched Juror 8 deeply.

He realized that their decision had changed someone's life, and he couldn't help but feel proud of what they had accomplished.

But as the years went by, Juror 8 couldn't escape the nagging feeling that justice had not been served.

He began to investigate the case further, trying to find any new evidence that might shed light on what had really happened.

Juror 8 soon discovered that there had been a witness who had not been called to testify during the trial.

The witness had seen the victim arguing with another man on the night of the murder, and the argument had turned violent. The witness had not come forward at the time, fearing for his safety.

Juror 8 tracked down the witness and convinced him to testify in a new trial. The witness's testimony was enough to overturn the previous verdict, and the real killer was finally brought to justice.

Juror 8 was relieved that justice had been served, but he couldn't help but feel guilty for not uncovering the truth sooner.

He had been so convinced of the defendant's innocence that he had overlooked crucial evidence that could have saved years of injustice.

In the end, Juror 8 realized that justice was not always black and white. It was messy and complicated, and sometimes it took years to uncover the truth.

But he was proud to have been a part of a system that could eventually set things right.

As he sat in his living room, Juror 8 thought back to that fateful day in the jury room. He had never imagined that it would lead him down this path, but he was grateful for the journey.

He knew that justice was not always perfect, but he also knew that it was worth fighting for.

Answers

"Out of My Mind" is a novel by Sharon M. Draper that tells the story of Melody, a young girl with cerebral palsy who is unable to speak or walk. In Chapter 6, titled "Hurt," Melody faces both physical and emotional challenges as she navigates her daily life.

The chapter begins with Melody waking up to find her dog, Butterscotch, by her side. Despite her inability to express herself verbally, Melody has a deep bond with her dog, who provides her with comfort and companionship.

Melody's morning routine is described, highlighting the difficulties she faces in carrying out basic tasks such as getting dressed and feeding herself. She relies on the help of her mother, who is a constant source of support and encouragement.

At school, Melody faces the challenges of being in a mainstream classroom where her classmates often underestimate her abilities. She yearns to participate fully in class discussions and show her intelligence, but her lack of verbal communication makes it difficult for others to understand her true capabilities. She expresses frustration at being labeled as "mentally challenged" when she knows she has a sharp mind.

During lunchtime, Melody faces an unfortunate incident when a fellow student spills food on her lap. This not only causes physical discomfort but also humiliation as her classmates laugh at the situation. Melody's emotions run high, and she longs to express her anger and hurt, but she remains silent.

The chapter concludes with Melody's determination to overcome these challenges. She resolves to work even harder to prove to everyone that she is more than just her physical limitations. Melody's resilience shines through as she refuses to be defined by her disability.

Chapter 6 in "Out of My Mind" explores the daily struggles faced by Melody as she deals with her physical limitations and the misconceptions others have about her intelligence. It emphasizes her desire for independence and acceptance, showcasing her strength and determination to overcome societal barriers.

It emphasises how crucial it is to value the skills and intelligence of people with disabilities and serves as a reminder to readers of the potential that every person possesses, despite any physical restrictions.

The answers to the given questions are 1. do not include a source Option(a), 2. the author's background in the subject Option(b), 3. a biased or unsupported position Option(c), 4. The author's background and expertise Option(d), 5. An article published in a scientific journal Option(a).

1.When evaluating an online resource for use in a research project, you should avoid sources that do not include a source. A source is essential to the credibility and accuracy of the information. Without a source, the information presented cannot be verified and may not be trustworthy. It is also important to avoid sources that do not agree with your argument since you need sources that support your thesis statement and the argument you are making in your research project. Sources that were published more than five years ago may not be reliable since the information may be outdated, and the research might not reflect current trends and perspectives. Sources with more than one author, on the other hand, can be valuable for a research project since they provide diverse perspectives and opinions on the topic.

2.In evaluating an online resource for use in a research project, you should consider the author's background in the subject, if the author has published other works, and the author's country of origin. These factors can help determine the author's expertise, bias, and perspective on the topic. Additionally, you can evaluate the website's credibility by looking at the publisher or organization that sponsors the site and the purpose of the website.

3.In evaluating an online resource for use in a research project, you should avoid sources that contain a biased or unsupported position. It is essential to use sources that are objective, reliable, and provide evidence to support the argument. Sources for data or details in the text, on the other hand, can be valuable for a research project since they provide specific information to support the argument.

4.Library resources, like online resources, should be evaluated for the author's background and expertise, which can help determine the credibility of the source. The most recent use of the source in print is also essential since it ensures that the information is up-to-date and reflects current trends and perspectives. Additionally, it is crucial to review the reviews and the number of times a resource has been cited to determine its importance and relevance to your research project.

5.An article published in a scientific journal is considered the most credible resource since it is peer-reviewed, meaning that it has undergone a rigorous evaluation process by experts in the field. The information presented in the article is therefore trustworthy, reliable, and accurate. An article on Wikipedia describing the scientific method, a blog about the writer's own experiment, and an essay about science in a popular magazine are not as credible since they do not undergo the same level of evaluation and review as scientific journals.

In sentence 5 (reproduced below), the writer wants to provide descriptive details that appeal to the audience’s emotions and experiences.

Unfortunately, they are not the only ones affected.

Which of the following versions of the underlined text best achieves this purpose?

(as it is now)
affected, and many of those who are would find it logistically problematic—for myriad reasons—to meet newly enacted voting requirements.
affected, and thousands of frustrated people are finding themselves in a similar predicament because they lack a shiny government ID.
affected; thousands of others, their voices stifled, are also left on the sidelines to watch others exercise a right that is no less theirs to exercise.
affected; more than three million people in the United States do not possess a government-issued picture identification card.

Answers

The following version of the underlined text best achieves the purpose of providing descriptive details that appeal to the audience’s emotions and experiences "affected; more than three million people in the United States do not possess a government issued picture identification card."

Although it mentions that many people are impacted by recently passed voting laws the original sentence lacks specific descriptive details that would engage the audience feelings and experiences. This rendition emphasizes the sizable number of people who may be impacted by recently passed voting requirements by using specific and quantifiable information to elicit an emotional response from the audience.

The word "more" emphasizes how serious the problem is and heightens the impact on the reader's emotions. It accomplishes this by invoking a sense of frustration and helplessness by using the word "stifled." The emotive expression "left on the sidelines to watch others exercise a right that is no less theirs to exercise" emphasizes the injustice of the predicament.
