I wake up by eight every day.
w
A. Exclamatory
B. Optative
C. Declarative
D. Imperative

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

C. Declarative.

Explanation:

A declarative sentence is one that simply states or declares an opinion. In other words, a declarative sentence is one that expresses a statement or an opinion.

The given sentence "I wake up by eight every day" is a declarative sentence. It expresses the simple statement or a declaration of the speaker that he/she wakes up by 8 every day.

It is not an exclamatory sentence as it doesn't exclaim anything nor does it contain the exclamatory mark (!).

Again, it is not an optative sentence as it doesn't express a desire or an opinion.

Also, it is not an imperative sentence as it does not demand or express a command.

Thus, the correct answer is option C.

true or false

Answers

In English language, there are five (5) nonfiction text structures and these includes;

b. Compare and Contrast: it used for the comparison of two or more things to show similarities and differences i.e how they are alike and different.

c. Description (list): this type of text structure list lot of facts or details about a subject, making use of phrases such as more importantly, for instance, for example, etc.

It might be dangerous because everyone breathes the same air. Peoples body’s can be weaker to others and could get sick if no fresh air is coming threw the class.

essay " A story about an event/trip ", up to 150 words

Answers

A school organises many events where students can participate. These events help the students to discover their talents. It is always a happy and memorable moment to participate in these events.

My favourite event is the Annual Function. It is organised in the month of September in my school. This year I participated in Drama. The event name was “The Mirage”. It told the story of a Fisherman and his greedy wife. I played the role of a Golden Mermaid. On that day, our teachers asked us to do makeup at home and then come to school.

All the drama students were then given the costumes. We all then went to the backstage. The event began after the parents took their seats.

First, the prizes were distributed to the students. I got a certificate for holding second position in Essay writing competition. Then our Principal announced on the stage that the story – ‘The Mirage’ will begin. The story began and after that a dance performance took place. I was standing in the stage wing because after the performance it was my chance to go on the stage.

I went and spoke my dialogues. When I came back, my teacher patted my back and said that she loved my performance. We were then given the refreshments at the backstage. We also played games with our teachers.

After a song performance, a photograph was clicked of all the participants on stage. In the end, our Principal congratulated the students and the teachers who were in charge. After that, we all went to meet our parents. I introduced my parents to my teachers. Then we changed our costumed. It was a wonderful event. I will cherish it forever. -- FROM KHUSHI.

As the outgoing sports prefect, write a report for publication in your school magazing on sporting activities during your term of office

Answers

Answer:

ANNUAL SPORTS REPORT 2021 SUBMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS SCIENCES AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION - PENIEL COLLEGE

All over the world, sports has and still serves as a unifying factor, a tool for character building, and a means of self-discovery.

It is with the above in mind that I assumed the role of the Sports Prefect. I knew that if I was to succeed, it was important for me to leave the school's Physical Education program in a better shape than I met it.

To do so, I had to re-envision what that unit is all about. It meant that I had to stand upon the shoulders of all my predecessors from 40 years ago and ask myself, WHY we are here.

As I did with the help of the Sports Coordinator, Mr. Bright Li, I developed the courage to request the help of all the students who served with me in the Physical Education Unit. Without them, none of the things we achieved would have been made possible.

During my tenure, we not only ensured that all the different sports which we have improved and received funding, but we also added new sub-units such as

Skateboarding Sport Climbing Karate and Billards

For the first time in 12 years, we won the Regional chess championship and made it to the Nationals, coming back with the Bronze medal in third place.

Our football team had the rare opportunity to tour with the National football team. This exposure left a strong impact on the members of the team. Some of them now see their dream of joining an actual football team as being more real than ever. Some of the footballers elected to mentor anyone who was serious about taking football farther than college. Of course, there were certain terms and conditions attached.

Because of how we saw the school's Sports Program, and how we went about it, some of the students, have transferred the same dedication, discipline, and teamwork that they have learned on the field to their studies.  Keeping track, we saw that the grades of all sports active students improved by 39% after we introduced the Play to Win philosophy. We made it clear through all our coaches and team leads that all the principles learned on the field were transferrable to academic work and that sports was not just an escape for those who felt they didn't have the brains or intelligence to excel academically.

As students progressed athletically, and in various other sports, their self-image increased. So did their academic performance.

I'd like to thank the all staff and students who helped to push the vision of the Sports and Physical Sciences unit further. Special appreciation goes to the teachers who supervised the following teams:

Cricket Volleyball Table Tennis Chess Athletics Tug of War

They provided excellent coaching and for the first time in 9 years featured in interschool competitions, coming back home with at least a bronze medal. In all, we had 6 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.

If we don't give up, IMPOSSIBILITY IS NOTHING.

Cheers

The tools used in a text to support the information presented by the author are called textual evidence. This evidence aims to show that the author's statements are true, presenting facts that justify the statements presented.

In that case, to find out what kind of evidence Rodriguez used to support the claims in his text, you should read the text and pay attention to the following elements:

1. If Rodrigues justifies his statement, with a short story that has an ironic and playful tone, it is because he used an anecdote.

2. If he justified the statements by presenting graphs, rankings, numbers and mathematical elements, it is because he used statistics.

Answers

Explanation:

What is this? Are you supposed to find the proper grammar or something?

A possible way to form sentences using the words given is "Yesterday, there was a lot of fish in the river. He saw a bear on the bank of the river."

The past form of "be" and "see"

We can tell the verbs provided in the question are supposed to be used in their simple past form due to the word "yesterday." The past forms of "be" are "was" and "were", and the past form of "see" is "saw."

The second part is the easiest to do because we know the subject of the sentence is "he":

He saw a bear on the bank of the river.

The first part, however, is a bit unclear. We cannot be sure who the subject is, so there are a couple of possibilities. For example:

Yesterday, there was (a lot of) fish in the river.Yesterday, Fish was in the river. - Here, we assume that Fish is a character in the story and the subject of the sentence.

Which sentence best describes an example of an allusion?

Answers

The correct answer is B. A character describes another character as Romeo.

Explanation

The allusion is a concept that is used to associate characters, situations, events, or even other texts. The allusions, therefore, are intended to give the reader or listener a preliminary idea so that he understands an idea. According to the above, if a character describes another character referring to Romeo's characteristics, he is using the allusion to have Romeo as a point of reference, to establish the idea of another character. So the correct answer is B. A character describes another character as Romeo.

A Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High

[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.

[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist...encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."

[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.

[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).

[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.

[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.

In a paragraph of 6-8 sentences, identify what each text emphasizes and explain how that emphasis supports the claim of each argument. Be sure to state each argument's claim and include evidence from both texts to support your analysis.

Answers

Answer:

The speech provides a compelling argument against volunteering abroad due to the often hidden harmful effects it has. There is a particular emphasis on staying within your home-land and volunteering locally so that you are able to form a genuine connection with those you volunteer with or for. Volunteering while on holiday is a temporary excursion that has very little impact overall. Volunteering near your permanent residence however, ensures that you "see the job through". Another effective point made in the argument was how volunteering while on holiday is not truly a real life experience due to the artificiality of it all. Often times these "slums" are created as a tourist attraction so people will pay money to "help" and be self-proclaimed humanitarians when in reality they are just adding to the problem.
