According to the CON article, which option BEST
describes most people's approach to the debate
over Columbus Day?

Answers

Monuments honoring Christopher Columbus are being defaced and destroyed. This year’s

Columbus Day celebrations will spark strong debate over the explorer’s legacy, but by looking

at Columbus in the big picture of history, one can see today’s anti-Columbian fury is either

misguided or part of a blind political agenda to demonize early European activity in the New

World.

First, let’s consider the matter of European disease transmission, principally smallpox, which

is estimated to have killed 70 to 80 percent of Native Americans. While those numbers are

staggering, the deaths happened over many decades. Holding Columbus responsible is

beyond preposterous. Further, calculating an actual number of deaths is impossible because

estimates of pre-Columbus populations vary enormously. In Hispaniola, for example, the range

runs from 250,000 to 3 million.

(HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL) can someone PLEASE write me a final draft to the question. "Why or why not should libraries ban some books?" 100 POINTS!!!! PLEASE DONT PLAGIARIZE

Answers

Essay:

Libraries should not ban certain books, like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter just because it is not politically correct; or the content is not right for certain ages. It should be up to the parent to decide what books their young children should read if they are so worried that their kids will learn bad habits from reading books.

It is also should be up to the person on what they want to read, libraries are suppose to be promoting reading to all, not limiting them on what they can read. It is ok for kids to immerse themselves in what they read. Books are something that kids do to let their imagination go wild, having no limits, if they want let them pretend that they have magic powers. If we did not have these books, the author's out their would be limited on what they want to write, not really making it fun; all life would be like is biographies and history books.

We would also not have a fictional section where all these types of books are placed, making libraries not fun to be in. This is why I think that banned books should not be banned from libraries. You are letting kids not have an imagination.

According to a website called ProCon.org  "In the 1982 Supreme Court ruling on Board of Education v. Pico, Justice Brennan wrote that taking books off of library shelves could violate students’ First Amendment rights, adding that “Local school boards may not remove books from school libraries simply because they dislike the ideas contained in those books.”

Explanation:

Hope that helps!

This isn't going to be the best so i am sorry if you dont like it but im just going to try to help. if you want to add more then obviously do so but i chose to write about why they should be banned. i didnt finish the thesis bc im not good at those.

Library books aren't always the best. Have you ever read how to kill a mockingbird? They're some inappropriate words that young people shouldn't be allowed to read.  Some books just shouldn't be in libraries.

Some books contain violence, nudity, inappropriate words, and just things we shouldn't be reading. If a fourth grader got ahold of one of those books how do you think it would turn out? Probably not so good. Kids and teenagers should be reading books for their age but once they read an adult book it's not always the best. Some might say it's no big deal, but what would you do if your nine year old sister got a book about murder? I assume not very happy. Although that might not be so bad for some, their are many examples of inappropriate things in books which expands my reason even more of banning certain books.

Something else that isn't a terrific thing is reading about racism or discrimination.  Maybe if it's a book talking about how Rosa Parks helped the black community in 1955 then that would be great to read. On the other hand I'm sure theirs some books talking about how that was bad and it's okay to speak poorly just because of their race. It isn't something libraries should be putting out for teenagers to read.  They should be more aware of what they are giving out to their book community.

Obviously they're many reasons library books should be banned, but these are just a few.

im not good at thesis and im thirteen so i gave up. lol sorry i tired.

Julius Caesar
by William Shakespeare
(excerpt from Act 3, Scene II)

In the prior acts of Julius Caesar, noble Romans have conspired against their leader, Caesar, and assassinated him. In this scene, Brutus, a well-respected man and longtime friend of Caesar, has addressed the people of Rome to explain why they've conspired against Caesar. Marc Antony, another longtime friend of Caesar, also addresses the Roman people.

MARC ANTONY: Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interrèd with their bones.
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious.
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answered it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest—
For Brutus is an honorable man;
So are they all, all honorable men—
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me.
But Brutus says he was ambitious,
And Brutus is an honorable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill.
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious,
And Brutus is an honorable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse. Was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious,
And, sure, he is an honorable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause.
What cause withholds you then to mourn for him?

Shakespeare highlight Caesar in his speech of Mark Antony:

C). Caesar did honorable things in his life.

William Shakespeare

As per the supplied excerpt, the author aspires to bring to light the valuable things taken up by Caesar in life which was ignored initially.

The component that highlights his attempts as a faithful and credible friend is illustrated via his function of taking the captives back home.

The interrogation or examination if he had stayed aspirational actually post denying/rejecting the authority for 3 regular times. This reflects that his acts deserve credit and appraisal.

Therefore, the correct answer is option C.

How have laws, policies, and systems developed to enforce the enslavement of black Americans before the Civil War influenced laws, policies, and systems in years since?

Answers

Answer:As the Civil War came to a close, southern states began to pass a series of discriminatory state laws collectively known as black codes. While the laws varied in both content and severity from state to state—some laws actually granted freed people the right to marry or testify in court— these codes were designed to maintain the social and economic structure of racial slavery in the absence of the “peculiar institution.” The laws codified white supremacy by restricting the civic participation of freed people; the codes deprived them of the right to vote, the right to serve on juries, the right to own or carry weapons, and, in some cases, even the right to rent or lease land.Slavery had been a pillar of economic stability in the region before the war; now, black codes ensured the same stability by recreating the antebellum economic structure under the façade of a free-labor system. Adhering to new “apprenticeship” laws determined within the black codes, judges bound many young African American orphans to white plantation owners who would then force them to work. Adult freedmen were forced to sign contracts with their employers—who were oftentimes their previous owners. These contracts prevented African Americans from working for more than one employer, and therefore, from positively influencing the very low wages or poor working conditions they received.Any former slaves that attempted to violate or evade these contracts were fined, beaten, or arrested for vagrancy. Upon arrest, many “free” African Americans were made to work for no wages, essentially being reduced to the very definition of a slave. Although slavery had been outlawed by the Thirteenth Amendment, it effectively continued in many southern states..!!

A)
Someone said, "Insects already form a traditional part of many regional

B)
"Carson states raising insects does not require land-clearing to expand

D)

Answers

The correct answer would be D. Carson would not be within the quotation marks since he is the one who is telling us this information. With the use of quotation marks, this is a direct statement from said person. And you wouldn’t put “somebody said,” if you were trying to give credit to Carson.

Answer: D “According to Carson, “Insects are healthy, nutritious alternatives to mainstream staples.”

Ms. Gianno was always the first teacher to arrive at school each morning. On the eve of Halloween, she noticed an orange notecard on her desk. It read, "Whatever you do, do not go home tonight." I need somebody to convert this into a story 200 words maximium

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

It read, "Whatever you do, do not go home tonight."

She turned the card over, but found no signature. She could not recognize the handwriting as well, so she did not know how to interpret it. Was it all just a joke by one of her students? Was it a threat of some kind? She soon had to leave questions and thoughts aside as students began to flow into the halls and classrooms. No one could have thought Ms. Gianno had received such a strange message, for she acted normally the whole day.

It was only at the end of the afternoon, while she was standing by her car, the door open, her leg hovering, that she thought of mentioning it to someone else. Looking around, she noticed at least three more teachers were behaving strangely – just like herself. She called them, showed them the card, and was surprised to see they had all received similar messages. Not knowing what to make of it, they decided the best way to act was to tell the police about it. What if someone had entered their houses and done something that could harm them? Better safe than sorry. It turns out their homes had not been broken into. The police found nothing that could be seen as dangerous, and all teachers were told it was safe to go back to their houses. Ms. Gianno, however, chose to spend the night at a hotel – just to be sure.
