Answer:

Explanation:
In the line I stole the king's diamond, what word should the actor stress to create the interpretation that he/she is proud of this action? A.) Stole B.) Diamond C.) King's D.) I
Answer:
D.) I.
Explanation:
Acting is a form of recreating a specific emotion, scene, or occurrence so that there is no difference in the reality and the acted version. This is a performance skill that enables a lot of actors and performers to be able to showcase their talent out in the world.
In the line "I stole the King's diamond", the main focus is on the stolen diamond. But if the actor is to stress a word in such a way that he/ she is proud of his/her great achievement, the stress should be on the word "I". That is because, if the "I" is stressed, then the focus is on the individual, the actor "I", who dared to steal from the king. The stressed "I" gives an impression of the person doing the great deed.
Thus, the correct answer is option D.

Click to read "Ain't I a Woman?" by Sojourner Truth. Then answer the question.
Which best explains why Truth repeats the question "Ain't I a woman?" in the
second paragraph of this speech?
A. To contradict her main argument
B. To help build momentum in her speech
C. To supply data that supports her argument
D. To set an angry tone
SUBMIT
The correct answer is B. To help build momentum in her speech
Explanation:
In speeches, the momentum refers to the strength or impact the speech has on the audience, which makes the speech memorable. In the case of "Ain't I a Woman" by Sojourner Truth, the main purpose of the speech is to show women are equal in ability, skills, etc. than men, and therefore, they deserve equal rights and treatment. One way the author supports this, is by using the question "Ain't I a Woman?" to demonstrate she does the same things men do, despite men say women need help to do the same things or do not have the abilities. Moreover, the use of this question over and over creates the momentum as this question shows the strength of Truth argument. Thus, option B is correct.

Describe a theme from Letter 3 of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and a different theme from Letter 4 of Frankenstein. How are these themes conveyed in each letter? Provide evidence from the text to support the themes expressed in each letter.
This is not a make-believe world in a science fiction novel. It's a 46,000 square mile nation hanging off the east coast of China. It is one of the poorest nations in the world and it is armed with nuclear weapons. It is North Korea. Immediately to the south lies a nation with one of the world's richest economies. About one-third of all phones and TVs are made here. The people of this nation are among the world's most educated. Unemployment is low, job security is high, and workers in this nation enjoy the highest salaries in Asia. It is South Korea. The people of this nation share origins with their northern neighbor, but they have since grown far apart. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (known to Westerners as North Korea) was founded in 1945 after World War II. Their neighbor at the end of the Korean Peninsula, South Korea or the Republic of Korea, was established at the same time. These two nations have an unusual history. For one thing, they have technically been at war since 1950. Though they were born at the same time, these two countries had different parents. The United States supported South Korea in its infancy. China and the Soviet Union supported North Korea. The U.S. and the Soviet Union may have ended World War II as allies, but they had different ways of organizing their societies. The U.S. is a capitalist country. That means that some people are rich and some people are poor. Resources are distributed unevenly. Business are owned by private entities. The Soviet Union claimed to have a communist system. That means that everybody supposedly gets the same. Resources are distributed more evenly. Business are owned in "common" by the government. These two superpower nations raised North and South Korea in their own images. The two Koreas went to war in 1950. The North attacked and took over much of South Korea. But the United States jumped in and pushed the North Koreans back to the Chinese border. Then China got involved and pushed the Americans and South Koreans back. The nations agreed to a ceasefire. Millions of people were dead and the living returned to their original boundaries. The war never officially ended, though combat has ceased for the most part. After the war, South Korea was one of the poorest nations in the world. In 1960 the average citizen made $79 a year. The country did not have a lot of natural resources to sell, but they did have many hardworking people. During the 1960s, the country began manufacturing labor-intensive products. Selling these products to people in other nations made South Korea rich. They now have one of the largest and most thriving economies in the world. As of 2012, the average South Korean citizen makes around $32,020 a year. The economy of North Korea is dramatically different. Since it's birth in the 1940s, North Korea has been one of the most secluded countries in the world. They promote an idea of self-reliance that they call Juche. Under this idea, they do little to no trading with other nations. Up until the 1980s, they received large cash infusions from China and the Soviet Union. But the Soviet Union fell apart in the 80s and became separate capitalist countries, of which Russia is largest. Without the Soviet contributions, North Korea entered a long period of famine that lasted through the 90s. Food was hard to come by and some estimate that millions of people starved to death. Still, the country persisted when much of the world thought that it would fall apart. Not only did they survive, they managed to build a nuclear arsenal during this time. North Korea and South Korea share a border. Since they are locked in state of perpetual war, it's not a regular boarder with a simple checkpoint. The border they share is known as a "demilitarized zone." A demilitarized zone is supposed to be free from military installations. Yet, the Korean Demilitarized Zone is the most heavily militarized border in the world. Both nations have their biggest guns lined-up on the divide and pointed at the other side. It is literally the opposite of what the phrase "demilitarized zone" implies. Some day Korea may be unified again. It seems unlikely now, but stranger things have happened. Yet, even if they did unify, how could these very different societies acclimate to one another? They have grown in different directions. One country is among the wealthiest, the other amongst the poorest. The average North Korean male is estimated to be five-inches shorter than a South Korean (some suspect because of malnutrition). With such big differences, will they ever be able to see eye to eye?::::read the passage and answer the question::;; "In what ways have the two Koreas grown apart? Discuss two ways in which they have grown apart and support each of your points with text. Be sure to explain your quotes. Make your argument clear.""""
Answer:
In today's world, North Korea and South Korea are two diametrically opposed countries even though they are one and the same. There are too many examples to list in terms of how these two countries have grown apart. But the most notable is their governmental systems and their industries. South Korea is a glitzy bastion of technological innovation; the asian country has borne the likes of samsung, sony, and panisonic, all of which are technological giants. North Korea has relatively no industry, nearly no countries do business with the hermit kingdom anyway (save for Russia and China). North Korea is an absolute dictatorship, and the people cower at the hands of a few. North Koreans don't enjoy any political or personal freedoms. It is pretty much the world's gulag. In South Korea, people enjoy plenty personal freedoms (although I must admit social mobility is quite hard as it is a harsh capitalist country). There are thousands more differences to list, and these two countries that were once one have fiercely grown apart. But, North Koreans and South Koreans mustn't forget that they are of the same ilk, the same blood. In my opinion, the only way for these two countries to see eye to eye is for the dictatorship that is North Korea to be usurped. Foreign intervention is definitely needed (although North Korea is a sleeping bomb, literally!). The politics around this issue is definitely muggy, but the only thing we, as a human race can hope for is for these countries to realize that they are really one and the same. Although the pessimist in me is cognizant that that day may never come.

Read the passage from "The Storyteller."
The children moved listlessly towards the aunt's end of
the carriage. Evidently her reputation as a storyteller did
not rank high in their estimation.
In a low, confidential voice, interrupted at frequent
intervals by loud, petulant questionings from her
listeners, she began an unenterprising and deplorably
uninteresting story about a little girl who was good, and
made friends with every one on account of her
goodness, and was finally saved from a mad bull by a
number of rescuers who admired her moral character.
"Wouldn't they have saved her if she hadn't been good?"
demanded the bigger of the small girls. It was exactly the
question that the bachelor had wanted to ask.
"Well, yes," admitted the aunt lamely, "but I don't think
they would have run quite so fast to her help if they had
not liked her so much."
Which statement best explains the situational irony that
occurs in the passage?
The aunt expects the children to laugh at the story,
but they do not
The children expect their aunt to tell a funny story, but
she does not
O The children do not like the story, even though it is
very interesting.
The aunt tells a story with a moral, but the children
ignore the lesson.
Answer:
The aunt expects the children to laugh at the story, but they don't.
Situational irony - the expected outcome fails and something else happens. She is known to be a good teller of stories, but the kids do not laugh and she wonders if she really is a good storyteller or not.

In "Fireside Chat #19," which other country does Roosevelt say must also be
defeated in order for the American way of life to be safe?
A. China
B. Germany
C. Norway
D. Russia
Answer:
B. Germany.
Explanation:
The "Fireside Chats" as they are termed, are the numerous 'declarations/ announcements' of then-president Franklin D. Roosevelt broadcasted all over the nation. This broadcast contains the president addressing the American people's fears and concerns regarding their national security during the days leading up to the Second World War.
"Fireside Chat #19" is a declaration of war against Japan after the attack on the American soil. This declaration of war against Japan has been a grave act of breaking peace terms and thus, now officially a war. But Roosevelt continued to state that with this war against Japan, it must be remembered that Germany has been behind all these attacks for it has promised Japan a share of the spoils of war. "Germany has been telling Japan that if Japan did not attack the United States, Japan would not share in dividing the spoils with Germany when peace came. She was promised by Germany that if she came in she would receive the complete and perpetual control of the whole of the Pacific area -- and that means not only the Ear East, but also all of the Islands in the Pacific, and also a stranglehold on the west coast of North, Central and South America", he commented. This is why along with the need to attack Japan, America also needs to defeat Germany for life to be safe in American soil.
the pearl book how does the town react to Kino's Good Fortune
Answer:
The whole town reacted with such fervor which the author states was like a "nerve . . . pulsing and vibrating with the news".
Explanation:
John Steinbeck's "The Pearl" revolves around the character Kino, a pearl diver who discovered a pearl and thus, began his change of fortune from being super poor to becoming rich. The story is more of a parable that deals with the greed of man and the evils in society that only leads to more discrimination.
Kino and his wife Juana were living in dire poverty. Once when a scorpion stung their baby Coyotito, the doctor refused to treat him because they had no money to pay him for his services. In frustration, Kino went diving for oysters while his wife applied seaweed on their son's swollen shoulder. Kino found a huge pearl which he dubbed "the Pearl of the World". From then on, numerous misfortunes happened to them, thieves tried to break in and steal their pearl, traders tried to cheat them out of it. The whole neighborhood was abuzz with the enormous discovery, the whole town was "pulsing and vibrating with the news", everyone trying to associate themselves with Kino, including the doctor who refused to treat them earlier.

A security expert claims that exactly 19% of all homeowners have a home security alarm. State Upper H 0 and Upper H Subscript a in words and in symbols. Then determine whether the hypothesis test for this claim is left-tailed, right-tailed, or two-tailed. Explain your reasoning.
Answer: Null hypothesis : [tex]H_0: p=0.19[/tex]
Alternative hypothesis : [tex]H_a: p\neq0.19[/tex]
The test is two-tailed test.
Explanation:
A null hypothesis [tex](H_0)[/tex] is defined as
hypothesis that proposes that there is no difference between particular characteristics of a population. It takes ' = ', ' ≤' , '≥'Alternative hypothesis [tex](H_a)[/tex] is defined as
hypothesis that proposes that there is a significant difference between particular characteristics of a population. It takes ' ≠ ', ' <' , '>'If alternative hypothesis is two tailed then we apply two tail test and if alternative hypothesis is left tailed/ right tailed then we apply two left -tailed / right tailed test respectively.Let p be the proportion of all homeowners have a home security alarm.
As per given, A security expert claims that exactly 19% of all homeowners have a home security alarm.
i.e. Null hypothesis : [tex]H_0: p=0.19[/tex]
Alternative hypothesis : [tex]H_a: p\neq0.19[/tex]
Here , the alternative hypothesis is two-tailed.
Therefore, the test is two-tailed test.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California. But not only that: Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. Answer:
to provide evidence that the age of discovery is concluding
Explanation:
The author’s purpose for including this statement of the above excerpts from Choreographers of Matter, Life, and Intelligence is to provide evidence that the age of discovery is concluding.
Choreographers of Matter, Life, and Intelligence was written by a physicist and author Michio Kaku who critically examines the great scientific revolutions that have dramatically remodeled the twentieth century–the quantum mechanics, biogenetics, and artificial intelligence–and shows how they will metamorphose and alter science and the way humans live.
What actually makes Michio Kaku’s vision of the science of the future so captivating and so distinct from just mere forecasts of most thinkers is that it is derived from a groundbreaking research taking place in labs today, as well as the harmony or the like-mindedness of over 150 of Kaku’s scientific colleagues. Science, for all its magnificent change, progressed slowly; we can correctively predict, asserts Kaku, what exactly the direction of science will be in the future based on the tracks that are being forged in the present.
