In a way families were brought closer together after this event in history. After WWII lots of families were rescued and back together. But of curse this brought trauma to lots of people (not just families). I've heard stories in class about regret from German families, imagning if it were their families being hurt and ripped apart.
I'd like to make a connection to the movie, "boy in the stripped pyjamas", SPOILERS. At the end of the movie, the german family had a taste of what it felt like to be jews, at the time. i've always wondered how they felt afterwards knowing that this is what they were doing to Jewish families.
