Read the excerpt from "Hansel and Gretel.”

The children, too, had not been able to sleep for hunger, and had heard what their step-mother had said to their father. Gretel wept bitterly and spoke to Hansel: "Now it’s all up with us.” "No, no, Gretel,” said Hansel, "don’t fret yourself; I’ll be able to find a way of escape, no fear.” And when the old people had fallen asleep he got up, slipped on his little coat, opened the back door and stole out. The moon was shining clearly, and the white pebbles which lay in front of the house glittered like bits of silver. Hansel bent down and filled his pocket with as many of them as he could cram in. Then he went back and said to Gretel: "Be comforted, my dear little sister, and go to sleep: God will not desert us”; and he lay down in bed again.

At daybreak, even before the sun was up, the woman came and woke the two children: "Get up, you lie-abeds, we’re all going to the forest to fetch wood.” She gave them each a bit of bread and spoke: "There’s something for your luncheon, but don’t you eat it up before, for it’s all you’ll get.” Gretel took the bread under her apron, as Hansel had the stones in his pocket. Then they all set out together on the way to the forest. After they had walked for a little, Hansel stood still and looked back at the house, and this maneuver he repeated again and again. His father observed him, and [said]: "Hansel, what are you gazing at there, and why do you always remain behind? Take care, and don’t lose your footing.” "Oh! father,” said Hansel, "I am looking back at my white kitten, which is sitting on the roof, waving me a farewell.” The woman exclaimed: "What a donkey you are! that isn’t your kitten, that’s the morning sun shining on the chimney.” But Hansel had not looked back at his kitten, but had always dropped one of the white pebbles out of his pocket on to the path.

Which sentence best states how Hansel’s actions help reveal a theme?

Hansel lies to his father in order to protect Gretel.
Hansel fills his pockets with stones to mark the way home.
Hansel plans ahead for a way to save both Gretel and himself.
Hansel defies his stepmother in order to say good-bye to his kitten.

SHARKS' TEETH
Langston Carter

The day we found the sharks' teeth was foggy and cool. Moisture hung in the air so thick you could almost see it sparkling in the dim sunlight. There were days, early in the summer like this one, where it seemed there was more water in the air than in the bay. We had beached the boat and stepped out on the recently cleared spit of land. The ground had a light dusting of white sand over an under layer of dried black mud. It looked like a recently frosted chocolate cake, though the frosting was spread a bit thin for my taste. The ground was solid, but we knew from experience that it was full of fiddler crab holes, and would be underwater at the first super-high tide. Mysteriously, to us anyway, someone wanted to build a house there.

We often came to these spots to look for artifacts. Our beach, our summer home, had been a fishing camp for as long as anyone living could remember. The oldest stories told of travelers coming down to the edge of the sea, lining up to fill their wagon beds with salted fish to take back home. Old decaying cabins still lined the beach. Rotting nets, hung out to dry in the last century, decorated their weathered walls. Their broken faces spun stories in our minds. The fishermen who, tanned and wrinkled from sun and salt, hauled their nets full of splashing mullet in to cheers from the waiting crowds. The bounty of the sea lightened everyone's hearts, and the smell of roasting fish filled the damp air. Women fanned themselves from wagon seats. Children splashed in the shallow edges of the bay. It was a scene we had acted out as youngsters, building an imaginary bridge to a life we would never fully know.

Explanation: Its based on your opinion, therefore there isn't any wrong answer unless it doesn't make sense.

1. Football is the most dangerous sport. There are high rates for concussions, traumatic brain injuries, and brain disorders. Its a sport where you tackle each other to get to the other side. 2. For this question, just come up with a situation you've done something scary, like the example bungee jumping.3. Some people participate in dangerous activities for personal gain or recognition. 4. They should decide when people start getting major injuries constantly. 5. I think that hunting is a necessary skill for human survival, it's also the reason why we wake up with food everyday. 6. It goes both ways. Its no question that some people show more sympathy for animals then humans. But I also think that humans should practice in shooting ranges instead of animals.

1 Football , Football can give you very bad head injuries. There has been many cases where teens or older people have hurt their head very bad and ended in the hospital.

2 Roller Coaster , I got on the highest Roller Coaster on sea world and it made me super nervous and very scared .

3 Some people participate in these activities because they like it , some because they get paid for it , but there’s many reasons why people could participate in dangerous activities.

4 Someone should always go for what they like , they should search up the pros and cons of that specific sport . They can search up any injuries in the game and stuff like that .

5 Don’t like it , think it’s a disrespect to Mother Nature , to the animals cause why kill them , you can just go to the store and buy food , there is no need to kill these poor animals .

6 I really dislike that they kill for fun , but it’s also very dangerous, cause if they get bored of killing an animal they might start killing people not saying everyone but there has been cases like that .

.gov would be the better use for your research paper because the .gov is verified. The Word of God says, "The wages for sin is death"

So, if sin is how you work, then death should be the check

There can be no forgiveness without the shedding of blood

The penalty must be paid if God is a righteous judge

We say, "Just let it slide", but, if someone killed your cousin

Would you call that judge righteous if his killer goes unpunished?

Or would you call him crooked? And we know the Lord ain't that

So, there's a death penalty, and someone has to pay that

The moment that you sin, your life has been indebted

And His mercy is the only reason He ain't yet collected

So, that's why they would sacrifice lambs in their places

But it didn't clear the debt, it was just a partial payment.

Telling the truth is a very important thing. If you want to have good relationships with your friends and family, simply don't lie. Being honest will go a long way. Plus, it's really not all that hard.

The more honest you are, the easier it is to trust. Not only will others trust you, but you can also feel more confident when trusting others. It's always good to pay it forward and develop good karma. That's much easier to do with honesty than it is to do with not being true or faithful.

Honesty leads to a fulfilling, free life. Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It's about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want, and what you need to live your most authentic life.  Honesty sharpens our perception and allows us to observe everything around us with clarity.

Being trustworthy means being honest - even if you feel the situation and the individuals involved do not initially merit it. When you build a reputation for honesty, you are also building integrity and credibility – truly, two aspects of relationships essential in building trust. Tell the truth.

THE VOYAGES OF DOCTOR DOLITTLE
By Hugh Lofting

Chapter 1: The Cobbler's Son
My name was Tommy Stubbins, son of Jacob Stubbins, the cobbler of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh; and I was nine and a half years old. At that time Puddleby was only quite a small town. A river ran through the middle of it; and over this river there was a very old stone bridge, called Kingsbridge, which led you from the market-place on one side to the churchyard on the other.

Sailing-ships came up this river from the sea and anchored near the bridge. I used to go down and watch the sailors unloading the ships upon the river-wall. The sailors sang strange songs as they pulled upon the ropes; and I learned these songs by heart. And I would sit on the river-wall with my feet dangling over the water and sing with the men, pretending to myself that I too was a sailor.

For I longed always to sail away with those brave ships when they turned their backs on Puddleby Church and went creeping down the river again, across the wide lonely marshes to the sea. I longed to go with them out into the world to seek my fortune in foreign lands—Africa, India, China, and Peru! When they got round the bend in the river and the water was hidden from view, you could still see their huge brown sails towering over the roofs of the town, moving onward slowly—like some gentle giants that walked among the houses without noise. What strange things would they have seen, I wondered, when next they came back to anchor at Kingsbridge! And, dreaming of the lands I had never seen, I'd sit on there, watching till they were out of sight.
