Read the excerpt from “The Girl Who Silenced the World for Five Minutes.”

Two days ago here in Brazil, we were shocked when we spent some time with some children living on the streets. And this is what one child told us: "I wish I was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicine, shelter, and love and affection."

If a child on the street who has nothing is willing to share, why are we who have everything still so greedy?

Why does Suzuki most likely ask this question in her speech?

to challenge listeners to visit children on the streets
to connect listeners to the topic of poverty
to challenge listeners to give a homeless child a home
to connect listeners to times when they have shared

Can everybody rate my essay?

Everybody has been love-struck at some point in life. In “The Song of Wandering Aengus,” William Butler Yeats experienced love at second sight. When he sees her, she is a fish. Then, she turns into a beautiful girl. The poem dwells on magic of love, and how attracted people get when they meet the “glimmering” someone. The poem’s theme is unreturned love.
From the first two lines of the poem, the speaker doesn’t feel well. “I went out to the hazel wood,/Because a fire was in my head.” The imagery of fire shapes the mood of love he wants in his life. Of course his head is not literally on fire, fire represents his desire that takes him into the hazel wood. Aengus shapes a “wand”, or a stick for fishing. He uses a berry as the bait to catch fish. The “moth-like stars were flickering out”, so you know that the time of the day is dawn. When Aengus dropped a berry in the stream, he caught a small silver fish.
In the second stanza, Aengus describes laying the fish on the floor, and starting the fire. He was starting to cook something and something rustles on the floor and someone calls his name. When he turns around and expects to see the trout he sees a “glimmering girl,” who had apple blossom hair and she called him by his name again and then ran “faded through the brightening air”.
The third stanza jumps forward until Aengus is an old man, and spends his whole life looking for the “glimmering girl”. In the second line of the third stanza, Aengus looks “Through hollow lands and hilly lands” he imagines he will find her and kiss and take her hand. He also puts that he and she will walk among grass together, and they will pluck the “silver apples of the moon” and the “golden apples of the sun” until the end of time.
In the end, W B Yeats, poem is about the fire of love and passion. In the first two stanza Yeats is not feeling well and he meets a girl of his life. The poem starts he going to do clear his head and goes to fish, and then the the trout turn into his love and she calls his name and “fades through the brightening air”. The poem tells readers that if someone love someone they would do whatever it takes to find their love for them.

Romeo and Juliet -

How would you describe the character, Romeo?

Please provide 3 points outlining his character.

Each point should have its own paragraph.

This is due very soon and I need it ASAP.

Thank you.

Answers

Answer:

Romeo's character has been interpreted in a number of ways by critics, but most would agree that he is portrayed, certainly early in the play, as particularly prone to falling in love. He is in love with Rosaline at the opening of the play, and distraught because she will not return his love. Yet within moments after meeting Juliet, he has forgotten all about his former love interest and is completely infatuated with his new love. All of Romeo's friends, especially Mercutio and Friar Lawrence, chide him for this characteristic, which strikes them as fickle.

Related to this trait is Romeo's impulsiveness. After only a very brief encounter with Juliet, he is prepared to marry her. It is also true, of course, that she wants to marry him as well, so this characteristic is more a comment on the impulsiveness of youth rather than anything inherent about Romeo's character. Still, on multiple instances throughout the play, he takes actions without considering the consequences, such as when he kills Tybalt.

Finally, some readers might conclude that Romeo is still rather childish and somewhat self-absorbed. For example, when he learns that he is to be banished rather than executed for killing Tybalt, he throws himself to the ground weeping, and is rebuked by the Friar for doing so. He does not recognize his good fortune. However, it could be persuasively argued that this act only demonstrates the depth of his love for Juliet.

4. Do you believe that people who commit serious crimes (murder, assault) can change? Do you think they should be forgiven by society? Which characters should and should not be forgiven?

Answers

Answer: I have always believed in second chances. I also believe in consequence, those who commit such crimes deserve to know they did wrong. They do deserve punishment, but with time things may change. Time heals as some say and some may find a kind heart to forgive. The main protagonist John proctor should be forgiven by his wife Elizabeth, he may have committed adultery, but he came clean when asked. He loves his wife, and forbade himself to ever touch Abigail again. As for Abigail, i feel her actions were fear born. The fear she had corrupted her choices, and she inflicted that fear upon the girls of the village, Mary warren was also controlled by fear. Making her give in to the lies being spread, and then accusing Proctor of witchery, in turn ending his life.

from Bleak House
[Lady Dedlock] supposes herself to be an inscrutable Being, quite out of the reach and ken of ordinary mortals-seeing herself in her glass,
where indeed she looks so. Yet, every dim little star revolving about her, from her maid to the manager of the Italian Opera, knows her weaknesses,
prejudices, follies, haughtinesses, and caprices; and lives upon as accurate a calculation and as nice a measure of her moral nature, as her
dress-maker takes of her physical proportions. Is a new dress, a new custom, a new singer, a new dancer, a new form of jewellery .. new chapel
a new anything, to be set up? There are deferential people, in a dozen callings, whom my Lady Dedlock suspects of nothing but prostration before
her, who can tell you how to manage her as if she were a baby; who do nothing but nurse her all their lives; who, humbly affecting to follow with
profound subservience, lead her and her whole troop after them.
(from Bleak House by Charles Dickens)
What do the different viewpoints of Lady Dedlock mostly emphasize?
01. how the privileged and those in their service often have conflicts

3. how the way people serve Lady Dedlock contrasts with what she expects of them
4. how the way Lady Dedlock presents herself contrasts with how others perceive her

D. how the way Lady Dedlock presents herself contrasts with how others perceive her

Explanation:
Interestingly, throughout the story "Bleak House", the character Lady Dedlock is portrayed as someone who is actually different from the way others perceive her.
For example, others perceive her as someone who is not concerned about the world around her. However, later on in the story, it is evident that she is very much concerned; even having a kind of fear and pain of events from her past.

Read the excerpt from Chapter 4.Anne of Green Gablesby Lucy Maud MontgomeryMatthew Cuthbert and his sister Marilla had decided to adopt a boy to help on their farm called Green Gables. When a girl, Anne, arrives, they are surprised. In this excerpt, Anne has just awoken after her first night at Green Gables.Anne could evidently be smart to some purpose for she was down-stairs in ten minutes time, with her clothes neatly on, her hair brushed and braided, her face washed, and a comfortable consciousness pervading her soul that she had fulfilled all Marillas requirements. As a matter of fact, however, she had forgotten to turn back the bedclothes.Im pretty hungry this morning, she announced as she slipped into the chair Marilla placed for her. The world doesnt seem such a howling wilderness as it did last night. Im so glad its a sunshiny morning. But I like rainy mornings real well, too. All sorts of mornings are interesting, dont you think? You dont know whats going to happen through the day, and theres so much scope for imagination. But Im glad its not rainy today because its easier to be cheerful and bear up under affliction on a sunshiny day. I feel that I have a good deal to bear up under. Its all very well to read about sorrows and imagine yourself living through them heroically, but its not so nice when you really come to have them, is it?For pitys sake hold your tongue, said Marilla. You talk entirely too much for a little girl.Thereupon Anne held her tongue so obediently and thoroughly that her continued silence made Marilla rather nervous, as if in the presence of something not exactly natural. Matthew also held his tongue, but this was natural,so that the meal was a very silent one.As it progressed Anne became more and more abstracted, eating mechanically, with her big eyes fixed unswervingly and unseeingly on the sky outside the window. This made Marilla more nervous than ever; she had an uncomfortable feeling that while this odd childs body might be there at the table her spirit was far away in some remote airy cloudland, borne aloft on the wings of imagination. Who would want such a child about the place?Yet Matthew wished to keep her, of all unaccountable things! Marilla felt that he wanted it just as much this morning as he had the night before and that he would go on wanting it. That was Matthews waytake a whim into his head and cling to it with the most amazing silent persistencya persistency ten times more potent and effectual in its very silence than if he had talked it out. When the meal was ended Anne came out of her reverie and offered to wash the dishes. Can you wash dishes right? asked Marilla distrustfully.Pretty well. Im better at looking after children, though. Ive had so much experience at that. Its such a pity you havent any here for me to look after.I dont feel as if I wanted any more children to look after than Ive got at present. Youre problem enough in all conscience. Whats to be done with you I dont know. Matthew is a most ridiculous man.I think hes lovely, said Anne reproachfully. He is so very sympathetic. He didnt mind how much I talkedhe seemed to like it. I felt that he was a kindred spirit as soon as ever I saw him.Youre both queer enough if thats what you mean by kindred spirits, said Marilla with a sniff. Yes, you may wash the dishes. Take plenty of hot water, and be sure you dry them well. Ive got enough to attend to this morning for Ill have to drive over to White Sands in the afternoon and see Mrs. Spencer. Youll come with me and well settle whats to be done with you. After youve finished the dishes go up-stairs and make your bed.Anne washed the dishes deftly enough, as Marilla who kept a sharp eye on the process, discerned. Later on, she made her bed less successful, for she had never learned the art of wrestling with a feather tick. But it was done somehow and smoothed down; and then Marilla, to get rid of her, told her she might go out-of-doors and amuse herself until dinner time. In Anne of Green Gables, how does Marilla respond to Anne's silence at breakfast?Marilla feels relieved. She starts to like Anne more.Marilla grows anxious. She wants to comfort Anne.
