What do you think of this drum major essay?

As a child, I remember begging my parents to go to football games to see the band perform. I had always had a fascination with the Drum Majors and how they led the band in both the stands and during half times shows. It was through this experience, I discovered that I wanted to become a drum major. Now that I am a proud member of the Raider Brigade, I am honored to be a current Drum Major Canidate.
A good leader is someone who not only delegates but listens. During my time with the Brigade, I have been able to participate in the Drum Major audition process, and I have been able to observe our past and current Drum Majors and learn new methods for both conducting and leadership. Now, I fully understand the responsibilities and importance of a Drum Major, and I believe that I am now ready to take on that role.
Over the past two years, I have been able to work with both returning and former Drum Majors to improve my leadership, marching, and conducting skills. Through this process, I have learned valuable skills that will help me lead and teach.I believe that through the consistent effort and dedication I have put in, I will have learned skills, tips, and tricks that will smoothly integrate incoming Freshman and Sophomore into the full Raider Brigade Experience.
Overall, I want to be a drum major so that I may lead and teach. I have been lucky to have amazing students in leadership, and I would not be who I am today without them. I want nothing more than to return the favor and show the band the joy and pride behind being a Raider.
