What was the main hope of many colonial areas around the world in the immediate aftermath of World War I? Question 2 options: A) Joining the British Empire B) Being granted independence C) Being granted more beneficial trade treaties D) Gaining the ability to trade with each other

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

being granted independence

Explanation:

This was because all their freedoms and right were practically taken away during WW1. The "hope" for independence was so strong because they felt trapped.

Answer 2

Answer:

B) Being granted independence

Explanation:

As the other answer states, the answer is truly wishing to be independent. However, some of the information is false.

Many of the colonial freedoms and rights were taken away during the Age of Exploration, which would occur way before World War I. The only parts in which their freedoms and rights were severely limited during World War I focused mostly in Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia. In fact, many of these places were the strongholds of the "empires" that existed in the age (British Empire, German Empire, to name a few). During World War I, with the shortage of man power, the European nations drew upon their colonies to furnish manpower to help them fight wars, in which the colonies asked in return to be granted their freedom from mostly oppression and looking down upon. That is not too say that all their freedoms and rights were taken away. Rather, it is spun in a different tale and light, as many of their natural resources were taken to create products that cater to the "needs" of the first-world countries, while the ruling country fail to benefit the people of the colonies. They had their own versions of freedom and rights, but when comparing (which is a dangerous thing to do), you will then think that freedom and rights were non-existent. Of course, that is not too say that slavery and forced labor is anything close to freedoms and rights, but saying that "all freedoms and rights" were taken away is a bit extreme. Instead, I would like to suggest that colonial areas, in helping the Europeans in their time of need, would instead like to be seen as equals to their host countries, and that they also be seen as humans as well, rather than anything lesser. Freedom and Rights are all created by humans to suggest that each individual has something they can fall upon when they are in dire situations, (as such as the freedom and right to choose, even when it seems like there is only one option, or the right on how to react, etc.)

In essence, the colonial people would rather be seen as equals to their ' " masters" ', and to be in equal footing and see each other eye to eye. This was soon upheld mostly after World War II, and during the cold war and following it.

The views expressed in the passage best reflect which of the following trends in European Christendom?

A rivalry for supremacy between competing sects
An effort to resolve internal disputes over doctrine
An indifferent attitude toward a threat to a peripheral region
A willingness to unify against an opposing ideology

Refer to the passage.

"We will build transports to carry four thousand five hundred horses, and nine thousand squires, and ships for four thousand five hundred knights, and twenty thousand sergeants of foot. And we will agree also to purvey food for these horses and people during nine months. This is what we undertake to do at the least, on condition that you pay us for each horse four marks, and for each man two marks. And . . . we undertake to keep, wheresoever we may be, for a year, reckoning from the day on which we sail from the port of Venice in the service of God and of Christendom. Now the sum total of the expenses above named amounts to 85,000 marks. And this will we do moreover. For the love of God, we will add to the fleet fifty armed galleys on condition that, so long as we act in company, of all conquests in land or money, whether at sea or on dry ground, we shall have the half, and you the other half. *DIFFICULT QUESTION, LAST QUESTION HELP* How did the death of Chinese leader Hu Yaobang in 1989 lead to the protests in Tiananmen Square? a.) As a reform leader, Hu Yaobang had tried to transform China's government into a democracy with free and open elections. b.) Activists in the democratic movement in China occupied Tiananmen Square to mourn Hu Yaobang's death and demand more reforms. c.) Students came out to demonstrate against the assassination of Hu Yaobang and demand that his killer be brought to justice. d.) Students in China were hesitant to trust any communist leader, and Hu Yaobang's treachery was the final straw that led to revolt.

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

In his official obituary, Hu was described as "a long-tested and staunch communist warrior, a great proletarian revolutionist and statesman, an outstanding political leader for the Chinese army". Western reporters observed that Hu's obituary was intentionally "glowing" in order to divert suspicion that the Party had mistreated him. At the memorial service, Hu's widow Li Zhao blamed Hu's death on how harshly the party treated him, telling Deng Xiaoping "It's all because of you people."

Although he had become a semi-retired official by the time of his death and had been removed from positions of real power for his "mistakes", public pressure forced the Chinese government to give him a state funeral, attended by Party leaders. The eulogy at Hu's funeral praised his work in restoring political normality and promoting economic development after the Cultural Revolution. Public mourners at Hu's funeral lined up ten miles long, a reaction that surprised China's leaders. Shortly after Hu's funeral, students in Beijing began petitioning the government to officially reverse the verdict that had led to Hu's "resignation", and to provide a more elaborate public funeral. The government then held a public memorial service for Hu in the Great Hall of the People.

On 22 April 1989, 50,000 students marched to Tiananmen Square to participate in Hu's memorial service, and to deliver a letter of petition to Premier Li Peng. Many people were dissatisfied with the party's slow response and relatively subdued funerary arrangements. Public mourning began on the streets of Beijing and elsewhere. In Beijing, this was centered on the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square. The mourning became a public conduit for anger against perceived nepotism in the government, the unfair dismissal and early death of Hu, and the behind-the-scenes role of the "old men", officially retired leaders who nevertheless maintained quasi-legal power, such as Deng Xiaoping. The protests eventually escalated into the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Hu's promotion of the ideas on freedom of speech and freedom of press greatly influenced the students

The death of Chinese leader Hu Yaobang in 1989 led to protests in Tiananmen Square Activists in the democratic movement in China occupied Tiananmen Square to mourn Hu Yaobang's death and demand more reforms. Thus the correct option is B.

Who was  Hu Yaobang?

A top politician of the People's Republic of China, Hu Yaobang was born on November 20, 1915, and is remembered for being a symbol of political transformation and democratic transition in China.

In addition to participating in Hu's memorial service and delivering a letter of petition to President Li Peng, 50,000 students proceeded to Tiananmen Square on April 22, 1989. The party's sluggish reaction angered many people.

The 1989 Tiananmen Square demonstrations were the result of the protests' eventual revolution. Students were highly inspired by Hu's promotion of the concepts of free speech and the press.

Therefore, option B is appropriate.

What happens to the citizens of a nation when their government struggles to protect their basic rights, and how do these citizens respond?

Answers

Answer:

A government does not “struggle” to protect a citizen’s basic rights.

All a government needs to do is to stay out of the way. That should not be a struggle.

When basic or human rights are compromised, it's almost always the government that is the problem.

What happens to the citizens? They must ASK the government to give or restore rights and accept the answer, since only the government can use force or violence to ensure compliance.

As an aside, it should be noted that governments don't disarm a population to protect its citizens from each other. Governments disarm citizens to protect themselves.

Explanation:

When the government struggles to protect the basic rights of its citizens, then the citizens are forced to resort to self-help.

Some of the basic rights of the citizens of a nation are the rights to life, freedom or liberty, equality, justice, dignity, independence, and respect. They are fundamental rights protected by both international and national laws.

When citizens resort to self-help, there is anarchy, and if care is not taken, there will be doom in that geographic entity. Separatist movements will arise to fill the gap created by the absence of a responsible government.

Thus, when the government is struggling to protect the basic human rights of its citizens, the citizens respond by resorting to self-help.

What happened at the DNC convention in 1968?

Following the murder of King, riots broke out in more than 100 locations, which put a stop to the civil rights movement. Additionally, the convention came after the killing of Robert F. Kennedy on June 5. The convention was put on hold by Kennedy's assassination, which made room for Humphrey. The Vietnam War should be over, the demonstrators said. They frequently engaged in violent protests in support of equal rights. Following rioting and looting, large crowds of people poured onto the streets of major cities. Soon, riots started, mostly among black people.

C. It was an American ship attacked, even when the US was neutral
D. A large number of Americans were killed onboard

Answers

Answer:

C. It was an American ship attacked, even when the US was neutral

Explanation:

The US was neutral at the time, and the sinking of the ship led to hundreds of innocent Americans dying.

The sinking of the Lusitania created strong tensions between Germany and the US and led to the US entering the war on the Allies side.

It was an American ship attacked, even when the US was neutral: the sinking of the Lusitania was a driving factor toward American involvement in the war. Thus, option C is the correct option.

The sinking of the Lusitania was a driving factor toward American involvement in the war primarily because it was an American ship that was attacked by a German submarine, despite the United States being officially neutral at that time. The attack resulted in the loss of many lives, including a significant number of American passengers.

This event stirred public outrage in the United States and led to increased pressure on the government to take action. It heightened anti-German sentiment and contributed to a shift in public opinion towards supporting intervention in World War I. The sinking of the Lusitania played a crucial role in shaping American sentiment and ultimately influenced the decision to join the war on the side of the Allies.
