En el caso de la agricultura, los españoles simplemente aprovecharon los elevados conocimientos en agricultura que tenían los indígenas, y los siguieron explotando cuando conquistaron y colonizaron a los indígenas.
Recordemos que los Aztecas eran excelentes agricultores, quienes cultivaban en sus "chinampas." Esas chinampas era pequeñas porciones de tierra junto o sobre los canales de agua que conectaban a la gran Tenochtitlán con otras ciudades cercanas como Tlatelolco, Mixcoatl, Coyoacán o Tlalpan.
