In this scene where this quote was said, Banquo dies. The plan wasn't for him to die alone, but to be kilt with someone else by his side. The killers in which Macbeth sent, failed to do what they were told. Yet still, the theory of the tragedy of a character remains.

This quote is from Lady Macbeth, showing that she would kill her own child just to be with Macbeth. As a character turning against another character, her own child. Fate at this point isnt an option on the tragedy but of the characters being effected by this.

As the story continues its journey, more things come into place. Lady Macbeth is vigilantly determined to get her husband to wear the crown that he is given. As she chastises him for the things that she would deliver or do for him as long as he asked her. She would do absolutely do anything for him.

After this was said by the three witches, Macbeth and Banquo enter the room. Which after the spell was said and they walked in, their days changed and things got better throughout.

One may believe that Macbeth was a tragedy of fate, due to how a weakness was pointed out in the individuals in the story as well as the society. Although within the story some may not see the valid point of whether the story is truly a tragedy of fate or of character.

In the beginning of the story, it had seemed to be a tragedy of fate, rather than of character. It seems like this because the witches play a major role on the beginning leading you to think otherwise. With the prophecies that the witches do they all begin to come true, which make it seem that Macbeth and Banquo have certain roles.

The story continues with mysteries occurring continuously. Deaths are happening, people in despair. Although the curiousness that continues throughout the story, changed with death among multiple characters occur. Causing one to be life in disbelief.
