What was the problem for the United States after the Annexation of Texas? What was the main effect of this action?

Answers

Answer:under the terms of the treaty Mexico ceded to the United States approximately 525,000 square

Explanation:

The main effect was what to do with Texas. It later became a slave state that shifted the balance of power in congress so a free state had to be added to the union. This also did not help Mexico-US relations because it would later lead to the US getting a third of Mexico. Germany would later send the Zimmerman telegram to Mexico to get them to try to fight the US in WWI.

What is Washington's main agriculture?

With 70% of the nation's produce going to Washington's apple sector, the state's farms support a diversified agricultural economy. Apples, blueberries, hops, pears, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries are all produced in the most quantity in Washington. The state ranks second in the nation for the production of apricots, asparagus, grapes, potatoes, and raspberries.

With 1,000 wineries, Washington is the second-largest wine producer in the country. In 1766, Washington moved to farm cereals, notably wheat, as a cash crop after realizing that tobacco was not a viable crop. Despite being a desert, irrigation has made the state's central region of Washington the most productive agricultural region.

The new developments in communication, transportation, and agriculture gave great impetus to industrial production. Other factors, however, also had considerable effect on the growth of industry.

In 1807, while England and France were engaged in war, President Thomas Jefferson convinced Congress that all United States trade with foreign countries should be stopped. The president thought this move was necessary because both England and France were interfering with United States ships that traded with the other country. Congress agreed and acted. This act of Congress, the Embargo Act, meant that the United States could no longer buy goods manufactured in England. This act greatly increased the growth of factories in the United States. Items that were manufactured in England now had to be produced in the United States. Increased production introduced strong competition among American businesses, which in turn provided the incentive to search for better ways of production.

Progress does not always come about by desirable means. War is certainly one of the less desirable means. With all of its destruction and grief, war proves advantageous to those involved in certain industries. Demands on industry in time of war are great and constant. The production of weapons, ammunition, warships, and other military equipment keeps factories busy and profits high during war efforts. As soldiers leave their jobs to fight, many positions are left open. Not only does unemployment decrease, but many workers labor overtime to meet the production demands of the war.

But have you thought about what motivates people to migrate today? For this project, you will be asked to think about this question as you make comparisons between the factors that caused people to migrate throughout history."

Can you help tell me what motivates the people to migrates from 1750 - 1914??

Answer:

Transportation methods changed greatly during both those time periods. This was also during the time of Coerced labor, so people moving to better enviroments seems reasonable. People migrate today mostly for the same reasons. Think about the immigrants, they come to America for a better life just as they did back then.

Jonas did the right thing in fleeing the Community? How do you think Jonas would have reacted
to learning about the true nature of release if Gabriel had not been involved? (The Giver)

Answers

I do think that him leaving the community was a good idea because if he stayed gave would be released. I think that jonas may have reacted similarly if him finding out about what releasing really meant did not involve gabe because it would change his whole perspective and probably anger him still the same. although I do feel like gabe being involved hit a nerve.

I hope this was helpful:)

I think Jonas did the right thing fleeing the community. Throughout the novel he makes certain choices that distinguish himself as an individual in contrast to the community which acts the same. By leaving, he allows for the people in the community to have access to the memories while the Giver is able to help the people cope. Through his decision to leave, he also saves Gabe.

1. How did the Magna Carta influence the writing of the Constitution?

2. Do you think that the present government effectively fixed the problems of the Roman Republic? Explain.

Answers

Answer:

1. With his conquest of England in 1066, William I secured for himself and his immediate successors a position of unprecedented power. He was able to dominate not only the country but also the barons who had helped him win it and the ecclesiastics who served the English church. He forced Pope Alexander II to be content with indirect control over the church in a land that the papacy hitherto had regarded as bound by the closest ties to Rome. William’s son Henry I—whose accession (1100) was challenged by his eldest brother, Robert, duke of Normandy—was compelled to make concessions to the nobles and clergy in the Charter of Liberties, a royal edict issued upon his coronation. His successor, Stephen (1135), whose hold on the throne was threatened by Henry I’s daughter Matilda, again issued a solemn charter (1136) with even more generous promises of good government in church and state. Matilda’s son Henry II also began his reign (1154) by issuing a solemn charter promising to restore and confirm the liberties and free customs that King Henry, his grandfather, had granted “to God and holy church and all his earls, barons and all his men.” There developed, in fact, through the 12th century a continuous tradition that the king’s coronation oath should be strengthened by written promises stamped with the king’s seal.

2.

 Rome needed money to run.

The Republic needed money to pay the legions, to build roads, sewers, aqueducts, and arenas, and to pay for the welfare programs that fed the poor.  To get this money Rome created a system called tax farmers.

A tax farmer was a person who bought the right from the Senate to tax all the people and business in a certain area.  The biggest problem with this system is that the senate didn't set up any controls on the tax farmers.  They didn't say how much taxes were, or who got taxed.  They left all that up to the tax farmer.

Tax farming was a business, and the tax farmers were in it to make a profit.  While most Romans were willing to pay taxes, and even allow the tax farmer some profit, many of the tax farmers went way beyond what people expected.  Many of them saw this as a way to get rich.  Plus, since the tax farmer decided who got taxed and who didn't, you could bribe the tax farmer to make your taxes low or maybe tax your competitors out of business, or if you had enough bribe money, maybe both.  If a Roman citizen didn't pay their taxes at whatever amount the tax farmer set, you and your entire family could be sold into slavery.

Even with the tax farmer system, the Roman government wasn't getting enough money and Rome was going broke.

2.  Elected officials were corrupt.

Under Roman law you could pay someone to vote for you.  So rich people could actually buy their way into the senate.  Once in the Senate, there were many ways to get huge amounts of money.  Remember the tax farmer?  Since they bought the position from the Senate, the Senate set the amount it cost and decided who actually got the job.  Plus the Senate decided who got to build the roads, arenas etc.  So construction companies bribed the Senate to get the construction contracts.  Finally since the Senate made all the laws, people could bribe senators to make laws that they wanted.  The Government of the Republic was rife with corruption and graft.

3.  Rome was riddled with crime.  Criminals ran wild in Rome.  Since there was no police force, there was no one to stop them.  It was not safe to walk the streets without a guard.  Wealthy Romans hired guards and even built their own small armies to protect their homes and families.  This led to further problems when the guards of one wealthy family fought the guards of another family over insults or business territories.  The Senate couldn't do anything since there was no money to hire police or even create a militia.

There were other problems in Rome to add to these.  Senators didn't trust each other, and they really didn't trust the legions.  They even passed laws making it illegal for a legion to enter Rome.  Rome was a disaster.  The people of Rome were tired of the mess and wanted the problems solved and the corruption ended.  Julius Caesar told the people of Rome that he could solve all of Rome's problems.

Suppose you are watching an ice-hockey game with some classmates. As the puck is sliding across the ice at a relatively constant speed, it passes close to a player, who hits it (with his stick) in the same direction as it is already moving. After the hit, you notice that the puck is moving much faster than it was before the hit. Your classmates propose the following three explanations for why the puck is moving faster after the hit than before. Whose reasoning do you agree with?Student A: "The force of the stick was transferred to the puck during the hit. After the hit, the puck has more force, so it moves faster."Student B: "The puck still has the force that started it moving, which is what keeps it moving at a constant speed. When the player hit it, he adds to this force, which makes the speed of the puck increase. After the hit, this extra force is gone, so the puck stops increasing its speed, but the original force is still there so now it moves at a faster constant speed."Student C: "While the stick is in contact, it applies a force to the puck that makes its speed increase. As soon is contact is lost, this force disappears, so the speed of the puck stops increasing."
