Why does Antony keep saying that Brutus is an honorable man?

What does Brutus think was Caesar’s greatest evil?

What attitude do both speakers share?

Answers

Antony keeps saying that Brutus is an honorable man as a way to show respect for Brutus and to honor Caesar's memory.

Brutus thinks that Caesar's greatest evil was ambition.

Both speakers share a reverence for Caesar and a respect for Brutus.

Antony keeps saying that Brutus is an honorable man because he feels that Brutus has acted out of a sense of duty, rather than out of ambition or personal gain. He respects Brutus for being willing to make the difficult decision of killing his friend, Caesar, in order to uphold the values of Rome.

Brutus believes that Caesar's greatest evil was his ambition. He believes that ambition led to Caesar's death, and that it is a quality that should be reviled. He speaks out against ambition, saying that it is a quality that should be punished with death, and that no one should follow in Caesar's footsteps and be "a bondman" (i.e. a slave) to ambition.

Answers

The word that best replaces "conspired" as it is used in the passage is option c. "plotted." In the context of the passage, old Chong and the narrator's mother were planning or arranging for the narrator to play in a talent show.

In the given passage, the best word to replace "conspired" would be "c. plotted." The context implies that Old Chong and the narrator's mother collaborated to arrange the narrator's participation in a talent show, which aligns with the meaning of "plotted."

The word that best replaces "conspired" in the passage is "plotted." This is because both words imply that there was a secret plan or scheme involved. In this case, Old Chong and the narrator's mother plotted to have the narrator play in a talent show. The use of the word "conspired" suggests that there may have been something underhanded or secretive about their plan, which is not necessarily the case. "Plotted" is a more neutral term that simply indicates that they came up with a plan together. It is important to note that the use of "conspired" may be exaggerated or dramatic, depending on the context of the passage. In any case, "plotted" is a more appropriate and accurate replacement for the word in this sentence.

1. In what two states did American Indians lose all their land between 1864 and 1894? Which state continued to have a large area of American Indian land in 1894?
2. In which states west of the Mississippi River did American Indians have no lands in 1864? Why not?

Answers

Answer:

1. American Indians lost all their land between 1864 and 1894 in the states of Oklahoma and Nebraska. The state that continued to have a large area of American Indian land in 1894 was Oklahoma.

2. In 1864, American Indians had no lands in the states of Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Iowa west of the Mississippi River. This was because of a combination of factors, including forced removal and relocation policies implemented by the U.S. government, encroachment of American Indian lands by settlers, and land cessions and treaties that resulted in the loss of traditional American Indian territories. These policies and actions often disregarded American Indian land rights, leading to the loss of ancestral lands and displacement of indigenous peoples from their traditional territories.

Explanation:

Final answer:

Between 1864 and 1894, American Indians lost all their land in several states, including Montana and Wyoming. However, Oklahoma still had a significant area of American Indian land in 1894. Additionally, by 1864, states like Minnesota and Iowa, west of the Mississippi River, had no American Indian lands due to government policies and conflicts.

Explanation:

The subject of your question pertains to American Indian history and land distribution. Between 1864 and 1894, American Indians lost all their land in multiple states due to a series of policies by the U.S. government aimed at assimilation and land redistribution, two of these were Montana and Wyoming. By 1894, despite land loss, a large area of American Indian land was still held in Oklahoma, as this territory was a destination for many tribes during the forced removals of the 1830s, known as the 'Trail of Tears'.

Concerning states west of the Mississippi River, there were no American Indian lands in states like Minnesota and Iowa in 1864. The reason could be due to the rapid westward expansion, government displacement policies, and conflict like the Dakota War of 1862 in Minnesota that resulted in the forced removal of the native Dakota Sioux.

Leafy greens often fall victim to E. coli contaminations because of the way they're grown, said Mitzi Baum, the CEO of Stop Foodborne Illness, a patient advocacy organization. Romaine lettuce and spinach are grown in the soil, which can be exposed to animal feces or contaminated water.

How can the risk of microbial contamination of leafy green vegetables be reduced?

The best way to reduce the risk of microbial contamination is to keep animals and manure away from irrigation water and cropping areas.

The Peanut Man

courtesy of the Library of Congress

George Washington Carver was a person born into slavery in Diamond Grove, Missouri, around 1864. He is one of the nation's most famous agricultural scientists. He is best known for his research on peanuts and his commitment to helping poor Southern African American farmers.

George Washington Carver was always interested in plants. When he was a child, he was known as the "plant doctor." He had a secret garden where he grew all kinds of plants. People would ask him for advice when they had sick plants. Sometimes he'd take their plants to his garden and nurse them back to health.

Later, when he was teaching at Tuskegee Institute, he put his plant skills to good use. Many people in the South had been growing only cotton on their land. Cotton plants use most of the nutrients in the soil. (Nutrients provide nourishment to plants.) So, the soil becomes "worn out" after a few years. Eventually, cotton will no longer grow on this land.

This was especially bad for poor African American farmers, who relied on selling cotton to support themselves. Carver was dedicated to helping those farmers, so he came up with a plan.

Carver knew that certain plants put nutrients back into the soil. One of those plants is the peanut! Peanuts are also a source of protein.

Carver thought that if those farmers planted peanuts, the plants would help restore their soil, provide food for their animals, and provide protein for their families--quite a plant! In 1896 peanuts were not even recognized as a crop in the United States, but Carver would help change that.

Carver told farmers to rotate their crops: plant cotton one year, then the next year plant peanuts and other soil-restoring plants, like peas and sweet potatoes. It worked! The peanut plants grew and produced lots of peanuts. The plants added enough nutrients to the soil so cotton grew the next year. Now the farmers had lots of peanuts--too many for their families and animals--and no place to sell the extras.

Carver invented all kinds of things made from peanuts. He wrote down more than 300 uses for peanuts, including peanut milk, peanut paper, and peanut soap. Carver thought that if farmers started making things out of peanuts, they'd have to buy fewer things and would be more self-sufficient. And if other people started making things out of peanuts, they would want to buy the extra peanuts, so the farmers would make more money. Although not many of Carver's peanut products were ever mass-produced, he did help spread the word about peanuts.

Peanuts became more and more popular. By 1920 there were enough peanut farmers to form the United Peanut Association of America (UPAA). In 1921 the UPAA asked Carver to speak to the U.S. Congress about the many uses for peanuts. Soon the whole country had heard of George Washington Carver, the Peanut Man! And by 1940 peanuts had become one of the top six crops in the U.S.

The creature defines a man this way: "I walk upright. I think. I collate facts. I imagine. I anticipate. I learn. I speak." Evaluate both the creature and the elders against this definition.

Answers

The creature is capable of walking upright, which means that it has a bipedal gait like humans. Without more information about the "elders" in question, it is difficult to make a definitive evaluation.

Describe creature and elder in brief?

Creature:It is also capable of thinking, imagining, and learning. These qualities are evident in its ability to reason, learn language, and understand human emotions. However, the creature's ability to collate facts and anticipate is limited by its lack of exposure to the world. Overall, the creature displays most of the characteristics that define a human being, but its lack of experience in the world limits its ability to fully meet the definition.

Elder:However, if we assume that the elders are human beings, then they likely meet all the criteria set out in the definition. Humans are known to walk upright, think, collate facts, imagine, anticipate, learn, and speak. However, it is important to note that not all humans are created equal in terms of their ability to meet these criteria. Some may have limited abilities due to physical or mental impairments, while others may excel in certain areas.
