Write a full paragraph explaining how the War of 1812 changed the way people felt about the role of the central government.

Answers

Answer:

The War of 1812 changed the course of American history. Because America had managed to fight the world's greatest military power to a virtual standstill, it gained international respect. Furthermore, it instilled a greater sense of nationalism among its citizens. Having just defeated the British in the War of 1812, Americans shared a sense of national unity and loyalty to their country. They felt secure and began to enjoy a booming national economy. With the end of the War of 1812, the Native Americans could no longer count on Great Britain to shield them from the flood of white settlers headed west. Settlers came in droves by the Erie Canal or through the Cumberland Gap. ... In the years after the War of 1812, new states north and south entered the Union.

In almost every book in The Odyssey, Homer alludes to Agamemnon’s fateful return home. What parallels can you draw between Odysseus’s return and that of Agamemnon? If there were no references to Agamemnon’s fate throughout Odysseus’s story, would his own return be different?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

1: Suitors plan to kill Telemachus on his return, just as Agamemnon's wife and her lover plan to kill him. Another interesting parallel between Odysseus and Agamemnon is that while Odysseus's son Telemachus kills the suitors to end their despotism in his father's palace, Agamemnon's son kills his own mother.

2: I’m not sure what the second questions is but ill answer it if i do know

Answer:

The Odyssey contains several references to Agamemnon’s return from Troy. The main reason for this seems to be to allude to and create parallels with Odysseus’s own situation. Some of these parallels are as follows:Both heroes were trying to return to Greece from Troy. Both had families waiting for them. Whereas Odysseus’s faithful wife Penelope and young son Telemachus were eagerly awaiting his return, Agamemnon’s wife Clytemnestra was plotting with her lover Aegisthus to kill her husband. The significance of this parallel is to demonstrate the two differing husband-and-wife relationships depicted in The Odyssey. Whereas the epic idolizes Penelope as a loving and committed wife staving off the advances of more than 100 suitors, it portrays Clytemnestra as deceitful.

Similarly, their sons also demonstrate divergent personalities. Whereas Agamemnon’s son Orestes avenges his father’s murder by killing his own mother and her lover, which makes his name, Telemachus has yet to prove himself. Orestes is praised and exemplified, and used as an example to urge Telemachus to find his father.

Suitors plan to kill Telemachus on his return, just as Agamemnon’s wife and her lover plan to kill him. Another interesting parallel between Odysseus and Agamemnon is that while Odysseus’s son Telemachus kills the suitors to end their despotism in his father’s palace, Agamemnon’s son kills his own mother. This is a dark parallel, which is similar in its nature of action (death), yet different given the relationship of the killers with their victims.

Agamemnon and Odysseus both have sons waiting for them. While Odysseus’s son Telemachus awaits his father’s return, the goddess Athena pushes him to look for his father. Agamemnon and his son Orestes unite sooner, but the son must avenge his father when the time comes. Both relationships between son and father are intimate and meaningful, with mutual pride. This is evident from their way of dealing with a situation involving their respective fathers. Whereas Orestes picks up arms to avenge his father, Telemachus does the same to avenge the reputation and respect of his father, which the suitors are trying to destroy.

The biggest contrast in Homer’s The Odyssey is with respect to Penelope and Clytemnestra. The Odyssey considers Penelope, wife of Odysseus and a cousin of Helen, the second-most beautiful woman in Greece. While her husband is away, 100 or more suitors try to compete for her hand in marriage, but her virtues as a loyal and committed wife help her rebuff their proposals. She longs for her husband and prays for his well-being.

In contrast, Clytemnestra (Agamemnon’s wife) indulges herself in a relationship with Aegisthus. She plots with him to kill her husband, and is not loyal to Agamemnon. The reason given for this is Agamemnon’s sacrifice of their daughter, Iphigenia. When the gods command him to kill Iphigenia, he does so to enable the ships to move toward Troy for the Trojan War. Clytemnestra is justified as a killer, but not as a wife. This action is what brings out the stark contrast between her character and Penelope’s.

Answer:

Poverty.

Explanation:

Poverty is the leading cause of most of the problems we face in America... People resort to gang violence and drug selling/ or addictions to step out of the reality they are in for one and gangs claim to provide you with protection and money.. who struggling wouldnt take that opportunity if thats all they had.

People who tend to live in poverty are surrounded by uncleanliness- intentional or unintentional but having a clean environment is usually least of their concerns. People that are okay with living in that lifestyle and are content with how they are living and do nothing to change it they usually become addicts... Then they tend to use un clean needles while SHARING THEM amongst others... and cigarettes spreading different bacteria and germs. this is how AIDS, herpes, hepatitis, syphilis, and other things spread within a group of struggling people.

Ive seen it personally. Now if i had a magic wand i would introduce them into a rehab facility and set them up with a nice roof over their heads to come home too. I wouldnt necessarily give them money because that can be used for their supply and habits but i would use that wand to supply them with nourishment, a cook book to give them something to do with themselves, a tv and internet to keep them entertained, and a recreational group that includes activities for them to put themselves in so they have something to look forward too and involvement with other healthy people to surround themselves with.

Unfortunately i dont have a wand- nor am i rich enough to put all of this into place so i will continue to protest for the rights of the unforgotten. They have gone through hell and back for all i know and some of them have no assistance or are even acknowledged of their struggles. Id like people to reach out to me and to others so they can be heard and receive the help they deserve. :)

Monroe Doctrine: The purpose was to warn European nations to NOT get involved in Latin America.

Monroe Doctrine was made in 1823 under the administration of President James Monroe.

Economic Colonialism: The purpose was to supply industrial materials.

This is because economic colonialism involves the extraction of raw materials from underdeveloped countries to developed nations.

Settler Colonialism: The purpose was to provide a place to live.

This is because Settler colonialism involved immigrants or settlers trying to displace or dominate the original inhabitants of a certain place with more populations.

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt: The purpose was to use a "Big stick" to gain access to the land for the Panama Canal.

This is because Theodore Roosevelt was the U.S President when the Panama Canal was eventually approved to be built by the U.S.A.

(100 points!!!) The 1970s saw a growth in the conservative movement in politics and society. How did this
movement affect the following topics?

Women's rights
Affirmative action
Religious reawakening

Answers

Answer:

The 1970s was an age of political movement that achieved a vast amount of the freedoms Americans enjoy today. In the early years of this time period, women had secured rights to co-education in higher institutions such as college, and expanded the workforce to embrace all genders, including married women with children. However, a rise of conservatives (traditionalists), sought to block more open-minded regulations and managed to do so, or spread information to gain supporters for their cause. Regarding the Women’s movement, supporters attempted to renew the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment. This law basically stated that all genders would be seen as equal under the Constitution and further solidified the feminist agenda. Conservative women who were concerned with the stability of families and believed in specific gender roles participated in the STOP ERA. Supporters of STOP argued that the Equal Rights Amendment would take away privileges currently enjoyed by women, including "dependent wife" benefits under Social Security, separate restrooms for males and females, and exemption from Selective Services. This group organized anti-ERA rallies which ultimately prohibited the amendment from being passed. Moving forward, affirmative action was a law passed in order to reserve slots for disadvantaged students. These included African Americans, women, and other ethnic minorities. Many conservative groups did not support this movement and students, employees, and university applicants sought legal action. In a specific event, Allan Bakke, a white man seeking admission into the University of California, sued the school claiming that they rejected his application because he was of a less favorable minority group. This case advanced to the Supreme Court in Bakke v. University of California, and sparked anti-affirmative-action marches on college campuses. While conservatives did not defeat affirmative action laws, they did gain supporters and caused the system to become an ongoing issue. Finally, during the 1970s a religious awakening occurred. Evangelicalism experienced a major revival and became heavily involved in politics. This group supported concepts of pro-life, strict gender roles, and family. Evangelists used the media to spread their views and broadened the educational resources for people to learn about religion and the traditional expectations women had to fulfill. Overall conservative groups fought greatly to block the passage of progressive legislation and gained supporters in their causes. Although at times these groups did not directly prohibit the new freedoms created, their opposition sparked controversy and revived them as issues that are still fought against today.

Find the median and mean of the data set below: 35,47,15,11,31,14,1

Answers

Answer:

The median for the data would be 15 and the mean of the data would be 22.

Explanation:

To find the median, you would get the average of the two middle values for this scenario because the set is even. If your data set is odd, the middle number would be your median

First, you would put the numbers in order from least to greatest.

1,11,14,15,31,35,47

Secondly, you would take the middle number (which is 15) to be your median. your median will be the halfway point of your data set.

To find the mean you would have to find the total of all the data points and divide by the amount of numbers you have.

First, add all the data points in the set

[tex]1++11+14+15+31+35+47=154[/tex]

Next divide by the amount of numbers (which is 7).

[tex]154/7= 22[/tex]
