The text states that defending the US against terrorism is difficult. Why was especially difficult to defend against a threat like Osama bin Laden?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the United States launched an international war on terrorism defined by military intervention, nation building, and efforts to reshape the politics of the Middle East. As of 2017, however, it has become clear that the American strategy has destabilized the Middle East while doing little to protect the United States from terrorism.

After 15 years of considerable strategic consistency during the presidencies of George Bush and Barack Obama, Donald Trump now takes the reins having promised to “bomb the sh—” out of ISIS and “defeat them fast.” At the same time, however, Trump broke sharply in his campaign rhetoric from Republican orthodoxy on Iraq and Afghanistan. Whatever President Trump decides to do, an evaluation of the War on Terror should inform his policies.

We argue that the War on Terror failed. This failure has two fundamental—and related—sources. The first is the inflated assessment of the terror threat facing the United States, which led to an expansive counterterrorism campaign that did not protect Americans from terrorist attacks. The second source of failure is the adoption of an aggressive strategy of military intervention.

The lessons from the War on Terror indicate that it is time for the United States to take a different approach. Policymakers need to acknowledge that although terrorism is a serious concern, it represents only a modest security threat to the American homeland. Further, the United States should abandon the use of military intervention and nation building in the War on Terror. Instead, the United States should push regional partners to confront terrorist groups abroad, while the U.S. returns to an emphasis on the intelligence and law enforcement paradigm for combating the threat against the American homeland.

Read the quote from the declaration of rights of man written during the French revolution how did these ideas influence politics in the French colony of Saint Domingue

Answers

The correct answer is B. They inspired Affranchis and slaves to rebel against Saint Domingue's unfair government.

Explanation

The French Revolution was an event that allowed the establishment of different changes, one of them was the declaration of the rights of men, in which many of the rights that were granted to men were established based on the principles of freedom and individual equality. This had influence in many parts of the world, mainly in the European colonies of America where declarations and wars of independence took place. For example, in the Dominican Republic, the uprising of the "Affranchis" (French term to refer to a freedman or an emancipated slave) was generated against the Spanish and Haitian Dominion because they considered that they were able to emancipate themselves from foreign dominions. to govern themselves as free individuals. So the correct answer is B. They inspired Affranchis and slaves to rebel against Saint Domingue's unfair government.

The distribution of fossils is used as evidence for plate tectonics. The distribution of four different fossil organisms over three different continents is shown in the diagram. The distribution of which organisms can be used as evidence that Africa was once connected to South America?

a. Cynognathus, Mesosaurus, and Lystrosaurus
b. Glossopteris, Cynognathus, and Mesosaurus
c. Cynognathus, Glossopteris, and Lystrosaurus
d. Lystrosaurus, Mesosaurus, and Glossopteris

Answers

Answer:

B. is the right answer for the distribution of the organisms Glossopteris, Cynognathus, and Mesosaurus from Africa to South America.

Glossopteris, Cynognathus, and Mesosaurus can be used as evidence that Africa was once connected to South America.

What are the evidences that Africa was connected to South America?

Paleoclimatic signs that connected South America and Africa were one piece of evidence offered by Wegener (Plate Tectonics: Continental Drift). He observed that when the continents were grouped together, glacial, tropical rain forest, and desert deposits were aligned (Plate Tectonics: Continental Drift).

Large-scale geologic features on many continents can be matched to provide geological "fit" evidence. The coasts of South America and West Africa have been recognized to resemble one another, but more notably, the continents' terrains also appear to be similar.

The most convincing proof that the two continents were formerly connected is the existence of similar fossil species along the South American and African coasts.

Medieval Life (WH7)
The manor consisted of a castle, a church, the village, and nearby
farmland. Every manor had a lord, who was in charge. Most people living
in the manor were peasants. The manor system allowed the peasants to
have land to farm, but the lord heavily taxed the peasants. The peasants
had to give him most of the crops. In exchange the lord protected the
peasants from thieves and soldiers passing through. This protection was
valuable in those dangerous times.
