Not even the city zoos are safe. At the London Zoo this month, 11 South African penguins were attacked and killed by a wild animal that lives in the city-the fox. Although the penguin pool is normally surrounded by a fence, this pool had been damaged in 2008 and never repaired. The urban fox, known for its intelligence, can easily detect breakages and openings in fences and enclosures.
