Many movies are based on books. Some people think that the book is always better than the movie, but this is not true. There are plenty of reasons why movies are better than books.

First, books are things that you can only enjoy alone. Movies are different. Whether you get together at a theater or have a movie night at a friend’s house, movies are a social activity. No one ever said: “Hey, let’s hang out and read a book tonight!” Movies are better than books because they bring people together.

Next, books take too long to read. Some books are short, but many books can be hundreds of pages long. In contrast, most movies are only two hours long. You can enjoy a movie in a single afternoon. You could even enjoy two or three! But some books can take weeks or even months to read.

Finally, books are just plain less exciting. Movies have special effects, dramatic music, and talented actors who bring the story to life. Books, on the other hand, usually just have words! What is more exciting, reading a tedious description of a high-speed car chase, or actually getting to see one?

Books may have more detail and let you use your imagination more, but movies are way more fun and enjoyable. In my opinion, movies are far superior to books.

Read the passage from "One of These Days" by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez:

"Monday dawned warm and rainless. Aurelio Escovar, a dentist without
a degree, and a very early riser, opened his office at six. He took some
false teeth, still mounted in their plaster mold, out of the glass case and
put on the table a fistful of instruments which he arranged in size order,
as if they were on display. He wore a collarless striped shirt, closed at
the neck with a golden stud, and pants held up by suspenders. He was
erect and skinny, with a look that rarely corresponded to the situation,
the way deaf people have of looking."
All of the following excerpts are used as appositive phrases except...

Select one:

- "still mounted in their plastic mold"

- "With a look that rarely corresponded to the situation"

- "He wore a collarless striped shirt
- a dentist without a degree

Answers

Answer:

"With a look that rarely corresponded to the situation"

Explanation:

According to the passage from "One of These Days" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the movements and actions of a dentist Aurelio Escovar is narrated and how he carefully places his tools and instruments on the table.

Therefore, all of the following excerpts are used as appositive phrases except the statement, "With a look that rarely corresponded to the situation".

This is because, an appositive phrase is a set of words that are placed side by side with its modifier and the above statement is not placed together with a modifier.

In philosophy, the word proposition can have linguistic and non-linguistic meanings. In our daily use of the word "proposition", it has a linguistic connotation as it refers to a statement which could either be true or false. They are sharable objects and therefore, exclude personal thoughts and utterances that are not sharable.

Its non-linguistic usage is applied in technical philosophic terms. The word can be used in declarative statements and to also express belief in something.

Alas, I confess that I am not true to myself but to you The stars reveal this, the mighty oak and the rose,The flinty rocks I skipped across a brook.I have walked my loneliness to the sea,And the sea roared in both ears.
I swallowed and tasted sadness.I lay in the grass and closed my eyes I saw only you, in a dress white as a cloud.Admittedly, I’m not as tall as thee, Neither smart as thee, nor rich as thee.Yet, my dear lamb,Let me be your admirer.I am a stable boy,You a rich farmer’s daughter.Let me be like wheat in wind, bending just so,Not the weak-stemmed daffodil, bent in rain,Dipping its face in mud churned by a workman’s clogs.

The sentence that most clearly describes the diction and syntax of a work of literature is C. Austen describes the events with an air of intellectual detachment.

What is diction ?

Diction refers to the choice of words and the style of writing used by the author, while syntax refers to the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language.

In option A, the focus is on the repetition of a word, which is an element of diction but not necessarily syntax. In option B, the focus is on the use of sarcasm, which is an element of diction but not necessarily syntax.

In option D, the focus is on the tone of the novel, which is an element of diction but not necessarily syntax.

important events in your life or experiences that make you feel more like an adult.

Think of why these events became a turning point in your life.

How did you realize you were growing up, that you actually became in adult?

Answers

I hope this helps!!

I think experiences such as calling to make appointments for myself are experiences that make me feel more like an adult, because when you’re a kid your parents will be the ones to book you doctors appointments and hair dressers appointments so being the one to do it feels like you’re becoming more independent, also getting a job makes me feel more like an adult.

These events became a turning point in my life because they made me feel more independent, I could make my own decisions and choices and then using the money from my job I could back up those choices without help of any people older then me.

I realised I was growing up when not just other people were referring to me as an adult but I myself was.

excerpt from Walden
by Henry David Thoreau

This is a delicious evening, when the whole body is one sense, and imbibes delight through every pore. I go and come with a strange liberty in Nature, a part of herself. As I walk along the stony shore of the pond in my shirt-sleeves, though it is cool as well as cloudy and windy, and I see nothing special to attract me, all the elements are unusually congenial to me. The bullfrogs trump to usher in the night, and the note of the whip-poor-will is borne on the rippling wind from over the water. Sympathy with the fluttering alder and poplar leaves almost takes away my breath; yet, like the lake, my serenity is rippled but not ruffled. These small waves raised by the evening wind are as remote from storm as the smooth reflecting surface. Though it is now dark, the wind still blows and roars in the wood, the waves still dash, and some creatures lull the rest with their notes. The repose is never complete. The wildest animals do not repose, but seek their prey now; the fox, and skunk, and rabbit, now roam the fields and woods without fear. They are Nature's watchmen—links which connect the days of animated life.
There is commonly sufficient space about us. Our horizon is never quite at our elbows. The thick wood is not just at our door, nor the pond, but somewhat is always clearing, familiar and worn by us, appropriated and fenced in some way, and reclaimed from Nature. For what reason have I this vast range and circuit, some square miles of unfrequented forest, for my privacy, abandoned to me by men? My nearest neighbor is a mile distant, and no house is visible from any place but the hill-tops within half a mile of my own. I have my horizon bounded by woods all to myself; a distant view of the railroad where it touches the pond on the one hand, and of the fence which skirts the woodland road on the other. But for the most part it is as solitary where I live as on the prairies. It is as much Asia or Africa as New England. I have, as it were, my own sun and moon and stars, and a little world all to myself.

Spatial order describes how things
appear on the ground first
are both alike and different
O look from the observer's eyes
taste and smell to the reader

Answers

Answer:

look from the observer's eyes.

Explanation:

In English composition, an organizational structure that involves the presentation of details as they appear or are located in space is generally referred to as spatial order. The details are usually presented either from top to bottom or left to right depending on the writer.

Generally, spatial order unlike chronological order is typically focused on location (space) while ignoring time.

Additionally, spatial order is also known as space structure or order of place because it gives a description with respect to how things appear when they are (were) observed by the writer (observer).

Hence, spatial order describes how things look from the observer's eyes.

This ultimately implies that, it determines the perspective from which details of an object or thing is observed by a reader.

Some examples of the use of spatial order includes the following;

I. A technical writer explaining how power steering mechanism in automobile cars work.

II. An architect giving a description of the design of a building.

Can someone help me please Solar EclipseParagraph 1 A solar eclipse can be a spectacular event to witness. Whether it is a partial or a total eclipse or not, seeing the shadow of the Moon cover some or all of the Sun's surface in the middle of the day can be quite dramatic! Eclipses happen when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some of the Sun's light. If you look online, you can find some impressive eclipse photos taken by professional and amateur photographers. On average, solar eclipses happen twice a year. Some of these photos have been touched up, or improved, using computer software, but others are completely real.Paragraph 2 When the time gets closer, you will need to prepare for viewing a solar eclipse! A solar eclipse can be visible in different parts of the world; however, you have to take some safety measures when viewing one. Fortunately, there are a number of perfectly safe ways to view such an amazing event. You cannot simply look up at the sun, or you will ruin your eyes in a matter of moments. If the idea of watching a solar eclipse appeals to you, check various astronomy Web sites to find out when the next one will be occurring.Paragraph 3 A special material makes them safe for viewing the Sun. One safe way to view eclipses is with "eclipse glasses." The frames of the glasses are made of cardboard, and the lenses are made of special material that blocks out all but a tiny bit of light. These are available by mail order from telescope shops and are also sold by science museums. Eclipse glasses do not cost more than a dollar or two a pair. However, make sure to order them at least a month ahead of time because they tend to sell out in the days before the event.Paragraph 4 Another safe way to view the solar eclipse is to make a viewer yourself! The easiest kind is a pinhole viewer. You can try this out on any sunny day. Just get two pieces of white cardboard, about the size of a sheet of printer paper. Make a tiny pinhole in the center of one piece. Then hold it in the sunlight so the sun shines through the hole, and hold the other piece of board underneath. After a few attempts, you should be able to line up the Sun's image so it projects onto the second piece of white board. If you move the cardboard with the pinhole farther away from the bottom cardboard, the image will be bigger. Now, you can view a solar eclipse easily, and protect your precious eyesight!Which paragraph is organized in the most logical order?A. paragraph 1 B. paragraph 3 C. paragraph 4 D. paragraph 2 help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee pls A study that looked at beverage consumption used sample sizes that were much smaller than previous national surveys.
