This is the kind of work that I do as a Medical Synthetic Chemist, though my work is in creating new, safer, more effective cancer chemotherapeutics— as opposed to drugs like antidepressants.

This is just one of many ways chemistry and medicine overlap. In summary, medicine relies heavily on chemistry and biochemistry; because after all, we treat illness and injury mostly with chemicals (painkillers, sedatives, sleeping pills, chemotherapy, even Neosporin and aloe-gel, to name a few).
